@Letty,
I like Love is in the Air and Barry's songs. My Funny Valentine too. Not familiar with that version.
Dickens is my overall favorite novelist. One cannot learn to string sentences together like that. It was his individual genius made it possible.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar. You know how I love Don McLean, but I never heard Sister Fatima. Do you suppose he was referring to this lady?

As the creator of the music observed, I am not religious either, but I still retain a quiet faith. This memory must be from my brother-in-law who was Roman Catholic

Hi, folks,
Miss Letty, that was a nice tribute to Dickens and I really
enjoyed Chris Botti's Funny Valentine, nice tune. I have
never been to Fatima myself, I'd probably catch fire if they
threw holy water on me Wink , but my Granma used to go every
other year, Bless, she was a committed Roman Catholic, me I don't
buy into it at all.
That was a nice song by Don, Ed, he has a unique voice, I've
always liked him. Have to say the Belly Dancer was great, I'd
say she'd say a great mass Razz . The Bee Gees song was awesome,
what a voice.
Here's the MAN.

Well, edgar, I suspect that lots of Roman Catholics name their daughters after Mary/Maria.

Yep, that Belly Dancer was fantastic as was The BeeGee's love song.

Welcome back, Irish. I understand your feeling about religion and dogma. I have been there. Your comments are also appreciated.

Ah, The Man in Black and Sunday Morning Coming Down.Love it!

Today is Chris Rock's birthday, and that man is one funny guy. Here's a clip from Rush Hour with Jackie Chan. Now you know why I don't say You All, I say it as yawl. Razz

Johnny Cash was larger than life, to me and many others. One of those personalities that looms over the music they perform. Lots of folks concentrate on the songs he recorded the last couple of years of his life, but I prefer what he did in a younger day. Sunday Morning Coming Down paints a picture I know from my own younger days.
I also admire Jackie Chan. So much exhuberance and charm.
Well, here is another legend

Well, Irish, you sent me searching again.

Father Ted is a situation comedy produced by Hat Trick Productions for the UK's Channel 4 and written by Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan. It aired over three series from 21 April 1995 until 1 May 1998, including a Christmas special, for a total of 25 episodes.

Set on the remote fictional Craggy Island off Ireland's west coast, the show starred Dermot Morgan as the titular Father Ted Crilly, alongside fellow priests Father Dougal McGuire (Ardal O'Hanlon) and Father Jack Hackett (Frank Kelly). Exiled on the island for various past incidents, the priests live together in the parochial house with their housekeeper Mrs. Doyle (Pauline McLynn).

Those scenes were funny.

edgar, I had no idea that Nat did Wolverton Mountain. What a surprise.

Thank you both for your comments.

Today is Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthday. Anyone remember the TV show?

Ahh watching "Little house on the prairie" was a weekly ritual
in my house growing up, a wonderful show.
I thought I'd heard nearly every Nat King Cole song but there
you go, that was a new one to me, lovely song.
Yes, Father Ted used to be hilarious, I think you can watch
a lot of his stuff & other C4 comedies at....

I enjoy that song by the Carpenters.
My mother loved little house on the prairie. I recently read about the one who played the "bad" little girl on the show. She came in for lots of abuse from fans of the show.

@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks, euroGeorge. I think just the way you do about edgar's Buddy Holly. First time I ever knew about him was via Don McLean's American Pie.

Dear Willie. Love Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. Thanks, Irish.

I guess we shouldn't forget the master of all rain songs.

I did a bit more research and came up with this.

Eugene Curran "Gene" Kelly (August 23, 1912 – February 2, 1996) was an American dancer, actor, singer, film director and producer, and choreographer. Kelly was known for his energetic and athletic dancing style, his good looks and the likeable characters that he played on screen.

Although he is known today for his performance in Singin' in the Rain, he was a dominant force in Hollywood musical films from the mid 1940s until this art form fell out of fashion in the late 1950s. His many innovations transformed the Hollywood musical film, and he is credited with almost single-handedly making the ballet form commercially acceptable to film audiences

Kelly was the recipient of an Academy Honorary Award in 1952 for his career achievements. He later received lifetime achievement awards in the Kennedy Center Honors, and from the Screen Actors Guild and American Film Institute; in 1999, the American Film Institute also numbered him 15th in their Greatest Male Stars of All Time list

@Letty,
Gene was a star when they still brought stage musicals
to the screen. So to be a star you needed to be able to
sing, act and dance. Very few stars around these days
who could fill his shoes, really enjoyed that, Letty.
Now not to be too flippant.... Wink
