I think "Let there be Love" is one of Nat's greatest Letty and
I really enjoyed the two Simon & Garfunkle songs Ed, I don't
seem to listen to them as often as I used too. You're right
about feeling more like Spring today, I seen my first Daffodil
today, a sure of Spring, but it just feels a bit to early, then again
the weather & seasons are messed up these days.
Yeah, heard on the radio about Gary Moore, seems he died on holiday
in Spain. I have to say Thin Lizzy were at their best the short time
he was with them. He was one of these intense guys from Belfast.
Here he is on lead guitar.

edgar, my favorite by those two was The Dangling Conversation, I think in a bit, you'll know why.

Thanks again to you and euroGeorge for the comments on what we play here.

Great one by the Gary who played with Thin Lizzie, Irish. So sorry about his demise.

Here's the reference to Robert Frost in The Dangling Conversation.

@Letty,
I first heard Dangling Conversation, by Joan Baez, in New York, in 1968. I loaned the album it was on to a friend and neighbor. I got the record back, looking like it had been left in the middle of the street to get run over all day long. Disappointment. Never did replace that album.

@Letty,
The Robert Frost poem is one I have been referring to while writing some new poems of my own, meter-wise.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I cannot tell you how many albums that I have lent to people that I never got back. One, was Jam Session. Rolling Eyes

Hey, you'll have to share your poem with us, Texas. I like Frost's meter in that one.

Dear Perez. Know Patricia by him. I like it, and thanks.

Here's another type guitar, y'all.

I think letty enjoys Yeats. I certainly do.
Also like Charo's bolero.

@eurocelticyankee,
I love Yeats, Irish, especially The Second Coming. That one always gives me shivers. Don't know the second one, but he is marvelous poet.

Here's another eerie one.

Stephen Crane

In the Desert

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter – bitter", he answered,
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

Back later with more music similar to Charo's

@edgarblythe,
I thought Charo's bolero was great. I've off to bed,
I'll leave you with one from Gary Moore. RIP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx3yXUunEq8

Oh here's a clip, a very special clip with the man himself
reading his own poetry, it's amazing to be able to listen to him
read his own prose, qualities iffy, but....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2FT4_UUa4I

That was a Chilling poem Miss Letty, worthy of Yeats.
I've always liked W.H. Auden, a fine poet. I've often thought
of him as a sophisticated rebel, maybe I'm wrong to do so.
Good night, Letty & Ed.

edgar, I always thought that Auden wrote Lunch on Omaha Beach. It took me forever to realize that it was not he. Loved that one.

Hey, Irish. Thanks for that song Still Get the Blues, and that final one by Yeats was marvelous. Sleep well, dear euroGeorge.

Time for me to say goodnight as well.

First, one to match Charo.

Now a shadow song.

So nice to have Ireland and England with us today.

Goodnight,

From Letty with love a taste of pizza.

@eurocelticyankee,
Gary Moore was a great musician, euro.
I had a hard time understanding Yeats on the last one.

@Letty,
I remember Dick Contino from childhood. Me and my mom always liked him.
I always think Robbie Williams is somebody else. Me and My Shadow is an oldie I know well.
Incidentally, I learned today that J Edgar Hoover never allowed his agents to stand on his shadow.

JD Souther - Closing Time.

Oh I like the way you bring the water
With your fingers on the lime
And when you walk that way it kills me
I'll be here at closing time

Is that a ring there on your finger
Or just a thin and fading line
You could walk away from me but don't do it
I'll be here at closing time

I'll be outside with the engine running
Carrying a coat and tie
Looking for a place to take you
I can almost hear you sigh

I'll be outside with the engine running
Pointing at the western sky
Looking for a place to lay you down
But I don't want to make you cry

I can see us walking in the future
With a child of yours and mine
I can feel the sunshine on our shoulders
Til it's closing time
Baby when you walk that way it kills me
I'll be here at closing time
I'll be here at closing time

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, Loved your goodnight song by Hank. Never heard that one, but Too Many Parties Too Many Pals may explain a lot about that man's short life. Thanks again for your comments.

Ah, Me and My Shadow reminded me of RLS.

I Have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow—
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an India-rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there’s none of him at all.

He hasn’t got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close beside me, he’s a coward you can see;
I’d think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!

One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.

Our Brit's order of Chinese food also brought this funny one to mind. Used to play Chop Sticks on the piano as a child.

Love Chinese food.

Didn't know J.D. Souther, but I love to learn here.

J.D. Souther (born John David Souther, November 2, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Amarillo, Texas) is a country rock singer-songwriter and actor, as well as a multi instrumentalist. He is well known both as a performer and as a writer and co-writer of hit songs for other artists, most famously Eagles and Linda Ronstadt.

Loved that song by him, and thanks for the introduction.

Dear Judy. (incidentally, Cary Grant never said: Judy, Judy,Judy) By Myself was great, however.

edgar, you and Barry hurry back.

Now a birthday boy, Garth Brooks.

G'day Y'all, yes indeed Ed, Spring is in the air, we hope.
Nice songs Barry. Enjoyed chopsticks, Miss Letty and
a Happy Birthday to Mr Brooks, Hmm I seem to remember
seeing a movie called Mr Brooks in which a certain Mr Costner
was surprisingly cast as a serial killer. Off course Garth wouldn't
kill anything except maybe the odd song. Razz
Anyhow I'm off for a while, with a spring in my step, off course. Wink
With Valentines day approaching, it's not only Spring in the air.

@eurocelticyankee,
Hurry back, Irish, and thanks again for the comments.

One to match your Love is in the Air. (love that, incidentally)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M51UqyWpYko

and the lyrics.

My funny Valentine
Sweet comic Valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet you're my favourite work of art

Is your figure less than Greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little Valentine stay
Each day is Valentine's day

Is your figure less than Greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little Valentine stay
Each day is Valentine's day

Today is Charles Dickens' birthday, so here is a tribute to him.
