edgar, I had forgotten that Holiday gal, but not Deano. Loved Just in Time, buddy. Thanks for your comment on Lady Day.

McTag, I have been searching and searching. Perhaps we'll have a serendipity and find it by accident

In the interim, how about a celebration song for the Chinese New Year tomorrow.

@Letty,
I know Kenny and most of his First Edition songs, letty. He was good and just got better with the years. There were no contrived transgressions in his repertoire.

Now a story about the only boy in New York

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I don't know that one by Simon and Garfunkel, edgar. The Only Living Boy in New York was great.

Yep, Kenny just get better.

Here's one of my favorites by dear Jim Croce who died at thirty years of age.

@edgarblythe,
Poor Mama Cass, edgar. The beginning rumor was that she choked on some food, but it seems that she had a heart attack. Love The Good Times Are Coming. Never heard that one by her. Thanks for playing it and your comment on Jim.

Here are a couple of great performers that are ragged but right.

That's one by nat and johnny I have only heard a few times.
Here is a song frankie laine first recorded as Answer Me, Lord above. After Nat King Cole recorded it as Answer Me Oh My Love, frankie recorded it again to be more like nat's version.

@edgarblythe,
You know, edgar, Frankie Laine has been highly under rated as a talented person. I had no idea that he wrote the lyrics to Answer Me Oh My Love.

Here's another he wrote the lyrics to, Texas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHPj-HvRrIk&feature=related

No tears, no fears,
remember there's always tomorrow
So what if we have to part,
we'll be together again
Your kiss, your smile,
are memories I'll treasure forever
So try thinking with your heart,
we'll be together again

Times when I know you'll be lonesome,
times when I know you'll be sad
Don't let temptation surround you,
don't let the blues make you bad

Someday, someway,
we both have a lifetime before us
For parting is not good-bye,
we'll be together again

That's a good song, letty. I have liked Frankie since childhood, when I saw him sing Sunny Side of the Street in a movie.

Here is a country artist I used to listen to a lot

@edgarblythe,
That's a sad song by Stonewall Jackson, edgar. (wonder why he chose that name?) He's a good vocalist. Thanks for the comment on the jazz song and the Frankie effect.

Saying goodnight with Quiet Nights and Quiet Stars.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkyg-UgexN0&feature=related

Quiet nights of quiet stars quiet chords from my guitar
floating on the silence that surrounds us.

Quiet thoughts and quiet dreams quiet walks by quiet streams
and a window that looks out on the mountains and the sea, oh how lovely

This is where I want to be here with you so close to me
until the final flicker of life's ember.

I who was lost and lonely believing life was only
a bitter tragic joke, have found with you,
the meaning of existence, oh my love

Nice to have McTag and Barry with us today.

From Letty with a quiet love

@Letty,
I have a record of Quiet Nights by Tony Bennett. It's a nice song by many artists, including yours.
My goodnight song is by Brook Benton.

Good Morning, Miss Letty & all at WA2K,
Barry getting us off to a wonderful Soulful start, good
stuff Barry, that lady Bessie had a mighty fine voice.
Here's something to lighten the mood somewhat, a delightful
little tune by Marc Streitenfeld.

Wisdom.

Sleep well, edgar. Loved your goodnight song. Brook Benton's So Many Ways was great. Hurry back, buddy.

Hey, Brit. Love James Brown's It's A Man's World. (I know; it's nice to have women in it.}

Love your soul sister songs. Motherless Child by Bessie I know.

Isobel and Mark's Come Undone was great. Thanks for the introduction.

Welcome back, Irish. Marc's Wisdom was fantastic, especially the visuals. Also loved the sound of that cello and the bubbles in the water.

I know Morricone's Amapola. Here are the lyrics:

A boy found a dream upon a distant shore
A maid with a way of whispering "si senor."
Each night while guitars would softly play,
The tune seemed to dance 'round the words that he'd say:

Amapola, my pretty little poppy
You're like that lovely flower so sweet and heavenly,
Since I found you, my heart is wrapped around you
And loving you, it seems to beat a rhapsody.

Amapola, the pretty little poppy
Must copy it's endearing charms from you.
Amapola, Amapola, how I long to hear you say "I love you."

Watched Denzel Washington's Fallen and it was eerie, y'all, but it was good.

The Theme:

good morning, a2k. Those are all great songs, euro, barry and letty.
I know the Rolling Stones song very well, letty, but Masaharu's song is unfamiliar territory.There are many talented Japanese, Chinese and Korean artists who I listen to from time to time. The names are so unfamiliar that I rarely remember them, however.

Well, I picked the Steelers to win it all today. Fortunately I did not wager money. Otherwise, I might be headed here to cover it
