I'm trying to get information on the music for the film "Suddenly, Last Summer".
It was released 1959, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift, I believe.
Music by Buxton Orr?
Wikipedia tells only so much. I want to hear the title music....it would help if I could find out if it was in three-four time.
Our band has a handwritten score, unnamed and unattributed, and I want to make the connection if possible.
Can any of your listeners supply a link, or maybe they've got the album somewhere in their collection?
@McTag,
Well, how did we miss that? Fantastic, McTag. Do you sound anything like this guy?

@Letty,
Funk is so last year.
Jaco Pastorius is the man.

And he only needs 4 strings on his bass.
@Letty,
Never saw Bang the Drum Slowly, but I heve heard Streets of Laredo by many artists over the years. That bass song is a nice sound.
Joe Pastoriuos is all right too.
Here's a guitar sound

@McTag,
McTag, I know absolutely zilch about bass guitars. If you say Jaco is good, so be it.
Searched forever for your theme from Suddenly Last Summer. It seems that Buxton Orr did do the theme music, but Malcom Arnold backed out at the last minute.

Here's the only song that I could find, buddy.

@edgarblythe,
Oops, edgar, missed your contribution, buddy. Will check Duane Eddy out later. Maybe you can help McTag with the Suddenly Last summer music. I tried.
I tried to helkp out with Suddenly Last Summer, but had no luck.
@edgarblythe,
Wow! I just found out that Duane Eddy did Paladin. Loved that song by him, Texas.
Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.
First, a moonlight song that I love.

Saying good night as I play one by Jerry Wallace
edgar, loved your goodnight song. In the Misty Moonlight was great.
Hey, Brit. Welcome back. So sorry that you have to work this weekend. Ain't fair. Really loved Jim Byrnes' Just a Pilgrim. I guess we all are in a way. Cross Town by Mel Brown was fantastic. Thanks for the introduction.
Well, here's the herald of the dawn. Crow, Chantecleer.
And a bit of a gap.

Good morning, all. letty, your early morning song brought this song to mind. It was written by Bobby Darin. He recorded it under the name The Rinkydinks.

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar. You are such a great source of information. Never heard of the Kinks, but I most certainly know Buddy and Bobby. Great one by the man who caused the music to die.
Here's one that reminds me of Prince Gautam. Can you guess why?

@Letty,
He taught us to grow maize?
@edgarblythe,
Funny about maize, edgar. You're aMAIZING
Love that one by Lady Day. I don't know it either, Texas.
Here's one that most of us know by her.

@Letty,
My Man is the first song I knew Billie Holiday by. I had often heard her name mentioned, but never heard her voice. Then I found a Coronet label record by her. Forget the year. It was long before the bio film.

Here is another holiday, with Dean Martin
Thanks to those who tried to help me with my enquiry.
Our music is annotated S.L.S. and it's a very nice tune, as I say in 3/4.
If the film music was found to be in that time signature, that would pretty well clinch it.
The previous musical director, who did many brilliant arrangements for the band, is unfortunately not around any more to ask.
Maybe I can make further enquiries when Manchester Music Library re-opens after its current refurbishment.
