@edgarblythe,
Ah, The Naughty Lady of Shady Lane is great, edgar. Didn't realize that you had followed Dennis Day, and I had forgotten about Rochester, too.

That one by The Ames Brothers leads one to think something else then surprises us with a baby.

I don't know this guy, but today is his birthday so let's listen to The Death of a Clown. Have no idea what the lyrics mean.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, Leonard and his love hate message. I think, edgar, that he may be referring to coal, because if I recall, many people think that those beautiful faceted stones are carbonized. They're not.

Just glad that you and your dog were not slippin and slidin. Razz

Little Richard. A girl I met in Chrystal City at age 18 helped me to be a real fan of his. I had liked him previously, but after the encounter with her, I bought collections of all his best original material. I still have the vinyl stored away in a cabinet.
Can't have Richard without Chuck

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Chuck, edgar. Ah, when we're teens, we love to have a shared song. Strange the title of Chuck's song. When I was really little, a sweet little brown gal name Baby Doll, used to come to our house and play on my mom's upright kimball piano, We are our heavenly father's children. All on the black keys, too. What a fond memory.

Here's an unlikely couple, y'all.

John Lennon appears to have grown up listening to the same music as me. He recorded quite a few of the old rock songs I like. Then he went on to like Bob Dylan and other artists I enjoyed, later on.
Here's another rock oldie

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Jerry Lee Lewis' Got You on My Mind was really good. Never heard that one, Texas.

Strange, I bet I searched for this song by Al Jolson forever. Still don't know why I know it. I went through the Larry Parks version of his movie and it wasn't there.

Great to have England with us today as well as us Americans.

Saying goodnight with two songs. First Al.

Now, Cock(ney) Sparrer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFVLg3xXmL0&feature=related

There was a poem called "Who Killed Cock Robin". Although many thought of it as a nursery rhyme, it wasn't.

The origin of the "Who killed cock robin" poem
'Who killed cock robin?' is best described as an English folksong or poem rather than a nursery rhyme. The words of "Who killed cock robin" are said to refer to the death of the legendary figure of Robin Hood and not that of a bird. The legend of Robin Hood encompasses the theme that he stole from the rich to give to the poor. The words of "Who killed cock robin" describe how help was offered from all quarters following the death of cock robin thus reflecting the high esteem in which Robin was held by the common folk.

From Letty with love to you all.

@Letty,
I think Got You on My Mind was at first a Joe Turner record. But I like Jerry Lee's version as well.
Love all of Al Jolson's songs. Then there's Cock Sparrer.

Morning Ms Letty (this sparrer is still singing),Ed and all WA2K peeps.Oops!!!!!!!! Forgot to wish you all a happy new year yesterday....Kung Hei Fat Choy - Happy Chinese New Year.
Leaving behind the ferocious year of the Tiger and welcoming a hopefully placid year of the Rabbit.Spring festival, or what is more known as the Chinese New Year, is considered one of the most important events in China. The celebration is based on the lunar calendar, so that the first day of the lunar year marks the Chinese New Year. Thus, the event falls between late January to early February. The celebration begins on the eve of the lunar new year and continues on until the fifth day of the lunar calendar's first month. This year Chinese New Year falls on February 3; the Year of the Rabbit.Generally, the Chinese people prepare for this holiday by making sure everything in their life is in order, or at least under control. By this I mean the house should be clean, rifts or problems should be resolved, clothes worn should be clean or new, etc. At midnight there are fireworks and firecrackers to greet the coming of the new year. The belief behind this is that the noise created by the firecrackers will drive away evil spirits.

@McTag,
Here are the lyrics McT,maybe you could practice singing in the shower....

Now you say you’re lonely
You cried the whole night through
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
I cried a river over you

Now you say you’re sorry
For being so untrue
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
I cried a river over you

You drove me,
Nearly drove me out of my head
While you never shed a tear

Remember?
I remember all that you said
Told me love was too plebeian
Told me you were through with me and

Now you say you love me
Well, just to prove you do

Cry me a river
Cry me a river
I cried a river over you

You drove me
Nearly drove me out of my head
While you never shed a tear

Remember?
I remember all that you said
Told me love was to plebeian
Told me you were through with me…

And now you say you love me
Well, just to prove that you do…

Come on! come on!
Cry me a river…
Cry me a river…
I cried a river over you
I cried a river over you…

Ha. Good stuff, barry. Good morning radio peeples. I don't know yet if it is safe to drive to work. The four steps to my porch are iced over, but the street in front of the house seems pretty good. Instead of the expected snow, it is slightly drizzling out there. I definitely will not rush this morning.

edgar, loved your goodnight song. I know Five Hundred Miles, buddy.

Will you be here when the morning comes? Razz

Hey, Brit. Don't know China Doll by Rachel, but she is good. Funny that the animal for the Chinese New Year is a rabbit.

Certainly know Cry Me a River, but had no idea that Michael Buble did that one as well.

McTag, you were part of a band? What a surprise! Did you play contra bass?

Today is James Dunn's birthday. He was a member of the Stylistics. He's the one on my left.

Now a song by them, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Never heard of Mumford and Sons, edgar, but I just discovered they are a British group. Thanks again for your comment. I liked that winter song, but I think what the world needs now is a summer breeze.

@Barry The Mod,

Big coincidence, that song was played on the radio while I was driving.
Oldham Community Radio, it were.
Michael Buble.
He sings Cry me a Ri-VER.
Quite good though....I like the Julie London version too.
Our band does it as an alto sax solo.
