Gene Hackman is always good in a movie.
It has been a long time since I watched McCabe and Mrs Miller movie, but I recall the sound track was all or mostly Leonard Cohen, from his first album.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know The Sea of Love, but it was great, Texas. Nor do I know McCabe and Mrs. Miller, but I love Leonard Cohen.

Now I remember The Black Rose. It was about the Medici and there was a movie about it. I wrote a research paper on it in undergrad school. If I recall correctly, they poisoned their enemies with wine. Need to check that out, however.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

I think we may need another Moses. Rolling Eyes

Good early morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, never heard the Sweetheart Tree by Bobby. Loved it. You hurry back, Texas.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. Don't know Flogging Molly, but you sent me searching again.

Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish-American Celtic punk band that formed in Los Angeles, California and is currently signed to SideOneDummy Records. What a great song.

Thanks for the introduction.

Ah, I love Charade. Thanks, buddy. "...we were like children playing..."

Well, tsar. Lady Day is one of my favorites. Thanks for I've Got My Love to Keep me warm.

I love this Chicago song, and it's perfect because day hasn't broken here yet.

Good Morning, WA2K listeners.
took the day off yesterday, I think the week caught up
with me, so just chilled for the day.
Enjoyed listening to Genesis & Phil, great band. Enjoyed
Barry's two & Billie Holiday too.
Chicago were great, Miss Letty & I really liked that piece
of music Ed played, but like that I haven't a clue what they
were saying, but you don't need to, good is good.
Here's one from a young lad who I predict has a bright future
ahead of him as either a performing artist or a song writer.

@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, Irish. I didn't know edgar's Osvajaci either, but as you say, just listening is enough.

Eric McGrath is marvelous, euroGeorge. I hope he becomes a big star. Thanks for the introduction.

Today is Mario Lanza's birthday. I remember him best for The Great Caruso.

@Letty,
Ahh, Mario, my Mam's favourite, I grew up listening to
Mario although I didn't appreciate him at the time, I think
I was going through my punk rock phase at that time. Rolling Eyes
Appreciate him now though.

@eurocelticyankee,
Everyone goes through stages in music, euroGeorge. It's what makes us grown and learn. My older sister introduced me to Mario, but my brother-in-law was always singing Meadowland and Caruso.

Lisa Gerrard's Now We Are Free was fabulous. I didn't remember the theme to Gladiator, but I do know that Joaquin Phoenix stole the show from Russell Crowe, buddy. Thanks for playing that one.

I don't know this fellow, but today is his birthday. First a bit of info.

Charlie Musselwhite (born January 31, 1944 in Kosciusko, Mississippi) is an American blues-harp player and bandleader, one of the non-black bluesmen who came to prominence in the early 1960s, along with Mike Bloomfield and Paul Butterfield. Though he has often been identified as a "white bluesman",[ he claims Native American heritage. Musselwhite was reportedly the inspiration for Dan Aykroyd's Blues Brothers

Muddy Waters lip sync isn't too great, but I love this man interpretation of music.

@Letty,
Have to say that Charlie Musselwhite is pretty
damned good, I'd certainly invest in a album if
I can find one.

U2 and BB King.

@Letty,
Eric is pretty talented. I grew up associating Mario with Student Prince. Once knew a woman that was a friend of his. I eventually discovered his other music.

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, edgar, and thanks for the comments on what we play here.

Odd, Irish. I was just reading The Potatoes' Dance. Know this one?

"Down cellar," said the cricket,
"Down cellar," said the cricket,
"Down cellar," said the cricket,
"I saw a ball last night,
In honor of a lady,
In honor of a lady,
In honor of a lady,
Whose wings were pearly-white.
The breath of bitter weather,
The breath of bitter weather,
The breath of bitter weather,
Had smashed the cellar pane.
We entertained a drift of leaves,
We entertained a drift of leaves,
We entertained a drift of leaves,
And then of snow and rain.
But we were dressed for winter,
But we were dressed for winter,
But we were dressed for winter,
And loved to hear it blow
In honor of the lady,
In honor of the lady,
In honor of the lady,
Who makes potatoes grow,
Our guest the Irish lady,
The tiny Irish lady,
The airy Irish lady,
Who makes potatoes grow

Today is Jean Simmons' birthday, so here is a tribute to her.

@Letty,
No Miss Letty, I've never heard the "Spud Dance" before
good one, nice tribute to Jean Simmons, she was a gorgeous
woman.
Enjoyed Harry, Ed. Singing about the lead line, we used to use
it when going to anchor, I can still remember the call, "By the mark
15 fathoms, nature of bottom shale".
We'd put tallow on the lead, but who am I telling Ed, you're ex navy.
