Goodnight, Irish. Loved Fly Like an Eagle and Liam Clancy's Sonny's Dream.

Hey, Rock. Welcome back. Marvelous song by Kansas. Icarus is popular this evening.

Henri Matisse? Icarus and Jazz.

Time for me to say goodnight as well. I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, a jazz oldie, and the lyrics

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNJRLinVXgs

Waking skies at sunrise,
every sunset, too,
seems to be bringing me
memories of you.

Here and there, everywhere,
scenes that we once knew.
And they all just recall
memories of you.

How I wish I could forget
those happy yesteryears
that have left
a rosary of tears.

Your face beams in my dreams
spite of all I do.
Everything seems to bring
memories of you.
Those memories of you

Now, one inspired by Rachmaninoff.

Goodnight world. It's been a wonderful day on WA2K.

Good morning, radio people. It's a rainy marathon day here. The rain is not hampering the runners.

I like Hines very much, letty. Used to listen to the Norman Luboff Choir quite a bit years back. Yesterday was an active day on the radio. Sorry I did not join in. I did check out the music, but will not comment on each one, but want to start fresh at this point.

Yesterday I watched a film that starred Jim Carrey. He played a screen writer that was deemed a communist by the McCarthy-ites. As the final credits rolled, they played this recording by Nat King Cole

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, edgar. Loved I Remember You by Nat. I think what got McCarthy in trouble was when he accused a top general in the US armed forces of being a Communist. Thanks, again for your comment on the jazz song.

I was beginning to think that everyone's wings had melted in the sun. Razz

Today is Phil Collins' birthday, so here is a great one by him.

McCarthy's reign of fear and false accusations had to crumble when an honest voice called him out before the entire nation. His movement had taken the characteristics of a modern inquisition.

Phil Collins performance was a good one.

@edgarblythe,
You're right about that, edgar. So many fine performers were on his black list.

Thanks for the comment on Phil.

That one by Jimmy Driftwood was funny. Reminds me of "I'm a Plain Old Country Boy."

Another birthday boy, y'all

edgar, Don't know Donnie Brooks (the name reminds me of that place in Dublin, Ireland), but I really enjoyed Mission Bells.

wandel, welcome back. Really loved that one by Genesis and Phil. Taking it All too Hard was great.

edgar's Mission Bells reminded me of this one, folks.

I don't think that was Pat Boone singing the song, but it sounds a lot like him.

@Rockhead,
Welcome back, Rock. Really enjoyed No Reply at All, buddy. Sent me searching again.

Two interesting items, y'all.

Donnybrook is a word that got the meaning for something that was a hard fought war because it was at the "Battle of Donnybrook" where the Scotts repelled the English. It a a battle that was hard fought. Thus today "Donntbrook" is a word that discribes a hard fought battle

Genesis an English rock band that formed in 1967. The band currently comprises the longest-tenured members Phil Collins (lead vocals and drums), Mike Rutherford (guitar and bass guitar), and Tony Banks (keyboards). Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett also played major roles in the band in its early years. Genesis is among the top 30 highest-selling recording artists of all time with approximately 150 million albums sold worldwide

The first one that I ever heard by Phil.

@edgarblythe,
Chords of Fame was great, edgar. Thanks for the tip that it was NOT Pat Boone.

I know Phil, but still went searching to refresh my memory.

Philip David Ochs (December 19, 1940 – April 9, 1976) was an American protest singer (or, as he preferred, a topical singer) and songwriter who was known for his sharp wit, sardonic humor, earnest humanism, political activism, insightful and alliterative lyrics, and haunting voice. He wrote hundreds of songs in the 1960s and released eight albums in his lifetime.

Just found out that he took his own life. Damn!

Today is Marty Balin's birthday, and although I never cared for Jefferson Airplane, here's a great one by him, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar, that song is in the key of C. I think that I could play that on my out of tune piano. Love it!

Many folks think that this song by James Taylor was about Jefferson Airplane, but it wasn't, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Oops, edgar. The Sea of Love disappeared just as the one at Mountain Lake. Razz While we wait for it to reappear, here's a tribute to Gene Hackman, one of my favorite actors whose birthday is today.
