@JPB,
I love Andante by Mozart, JPB. You may have missed my tribute to him when I played The Turkish March.

Here is another birthday guy, y'all.

@Letty,
That's the one that reminds me of Pride and Prejudice, Miss L.

Here's something from my all time favorite Baryshnikov movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haBZCrBHMm4

and the opening ballet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvDKyGfVl90&feature=related

I'm going to have to dig that movie out and watch it again!

@JPB,
Oh, I thought that you meant Tony Martin, JPB.

Wow! I had forgotten about that movie. Fabulous, but that hanging scene made me a bit chilly again.

I met Jessica Lange and Sam Shepherd at Mountain Lake. The two small tow headed children that he had with her may have been Baryshnikov's.

How about a little classical gas, y'all

@edgarblythe,
edgar, welcome back and thanks again for your comments on what we play here.

Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly. What a combo. Loved that one, Texas. Well, y'all, Debbie and Gene dream while these three say Good Mornin'.

Look at Debbie's shoes in that dance routine. Brutal.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I never heard that one by Sir Elton, edgar. I have heard that slogan before:

Don't shoot me; I'm only the piano player

What I liked about Rex, Jr. was his incorporation of all the great songs of the old west.

Speaking of the piano, y'all.

I just watched a news story about a piano put on a sandbar in the surf in FLA. The boys who put it there had pictures of themselves loading it on a boat and then placing it there. They set it on fire. The authorities made them move it.

Piano Man is the song that got me to listening to Billy. Before that I had not paid him any mind.

@edgarblythe,
Set a piano on fire, edgar? That's a hot piano, buddy.

Loved Rex Allen's Please Don't Go Near the Indians. He has a great voice.

Judy Collins' Farewell to Tarwathie was lovely. Ah, the whales.

Thanks for the introduction to all of your songs.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First Gentleman Jim who was also killed in a plane crash. This also seems to be a perfect song for the weather.

Now, the one I wanted to play last evening.

Goodnight, all

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K folks.This lady used to be an Ikette,a backing singer in the Ike and Tina Turner Revue.After several years touring the United States with the Revue, she came to England in 1966 when the Revue toured there in support of The Rolling Stones. Impressed by her powerful and soulful voice, Mick Jagger convinced Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham to sign Arnold to a recording contract with his newly founded Immediate Records record label. Arnold quit the Turner band to remain in London and establish a solo career....

Moving onto Doris Troy who had a profound presence and lasting impact on the Brit music scene in the 60's and 70's.Her style ranges across a New York girl group sound through early Motown to the lighter sound of Southern soul,and her influence on UK singers such as Dusty Springfield,Cilla Black and Lulu is obvious.The Beatles signed her to their Apple record label....

I think it has been mentioned here before that the backup vocal on Sam Cooke's song is Lou Rawls.
Gladys Horton, lead singer for the Marvelettes, died in a nursing home yesterday.
