@alex240101,
Welcome back alex. Nice to see you here in our wee studio.

Awesome song, buddy. The Dog Days are usually in August, I think. You sent me searching and I found this:

Florence and the Machine (stylised as Florence + the Machine) is the recording name of English indie rock artist Florence Welch and a collaboration of other artists who provide backing music for her voice. Florence and the Machine's sound has been described as a combination of various genres, including rock and soul. The band's music has received praise across the music media before they gained mainstream success, especially from the BBC who played a large part in Florence and the Machine's rise to prominence by promoting her as part of BBC.

I like her because she is quite unusual. Thanks for the introduction.

Today is Etta Jones' birthday, so here is a tribute to her.

Odd, I thought her name was Etta James. Rolling Eyes

The Samba video was great, letty.
And as you probably know, Marty Robbins is one of my favorite artists.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, Texas. Welcome back and thanks again for your comments on what we play here.

Strange, ain't it that Etta James and Etta Jones were born on the same day. Thanks for Sunday Kind of Love, buddy.

Today is Alicia Keys' birthday, and I love her ethnic mix. Here is one by the lady.

@edgarblythe,
Nope, edgar. Didn't know that. I sometimes like Rock a Billy. I Only Have One Life to Live was good, and that guitar reminded me of Hank William's style.

Here's a nice jazz piece by Shearing and McRae, y'all

I don't stand a ghost of a Chance is a good one, letty.
Percy Sledge here opened me up to the fact that many artists have recorded this following song

@edgarblythe,
I love a Whiter Shade of Pale, edgar. Percy Sledge did a great job with that one, too. Thanks again for your comment.

I think that one was based on Bach's classic, Sleeper's Awake.

Here's another discovery, y'all. George Shearing sings? Fantastic.

@edgarblythe,
Loved Walked in By Dinah was marvelous, edgar. Thanks for the comment on George.

Sorry, Texas, my French 101 leaves me "...lost in translation..." Razz

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think I shall do so with this lovely instrumental followed by the lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYLuXUoY66E&feature=related

Some like a night at the movies
Some like a dance or a show
Some are content with an evening spent
Home by the radio

Some like to live for the moment
Some like to just reminisce
But whenever I have an evening to spend
Just give me one like this

This is a lovely way to spend an evening
Can't think of anything I'd rather do
This is a lovely way to spend an evening
Can't think of anyone as lovely as you

BRIDGE
A casual stroll through a garden
A kiss by a lazy lagoon
Catching a breath of moonlight
Humming our favorite tune

This is a lovely way to spend an evening
I want to save all my nights and spend them with you

Well, I was spared again from being swept into Oz.

From Letty with love and a sigh of relief.

Good morning from your Florida producer and program director.

edgar, Loved Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone. Thanks again for your comments. It was supposed to be a lovely way to spend an evening, but t'was a scary one for me last evening.

You and our Brit hurry back.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow by Amy was a great one. Really loved the harp in that song Carrick Fergus by Bryan. It put me in mind of The Harp That Once Through Tara's Halls.

Yep, Roy, Everybody loves the sunshine. (sometimes! Razz )

How about one by Gene Pitney, y'all.
