@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks for the comment concerning Jack, euroGeorge.

Sent me searching again, buddy.

Sylvia Jane Kirby (born December 9, 1956, in Kokomo, Indiana) is an American country music and country pop singer and songwriter. More commonly known by the singular name Sylvia, she enjoyed crossover music success with the song "Nobody" in 1982.

Sylvia is best known for her hit "Nobody", which reached #15 Pop and #1 Country in 1982. The song earned her a gold record certification and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance (the Grammy went to Juice Newton for her hit "Break It to Me Gently"). Although "Nobody" was Sylvia's only single to reach the Billboard pop charts, her other big country hits include "Drifter" (#1 Country, 1981), "Fallin' in Love", "Tumbleweed" and "Snapshot". In 1982, she was named Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. She is also credited with making the first "concept" music video clip to air on Country Music Television (CMT), with "The Matador".

That gal is fantastic, buddy. Thanks for the introduction!

Here's a surprise! I was going to do Jack Jones' father's version, but when I found out that Mario Lanza did it, I simply had to play it.

Well, Brit. I do love Marvin Gaye, but I never heard that one by him. Thanks for the introduction.

euroGeorge. That one by Anne Murray was great. Can I Have This Dance for the Rest of My Life. Did she do Snow Bird? Mario did the life of Enrico Caruso. Still love that man.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with The Duke.

Anyone remember Stacy Keach as Mike Hammer? When the kids from Georgia were here, they watched The Ninth Configuration several times.

You can all listen to Alicia Keys do her version as well.

@Letty,
yes she did Snowbird.

Snowbird
Anne Murray
Written by Gene MacLellan
Peaked at # 8 in 1970

Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring

When I was young my heart was young then, too
Anything that it would tell me, that's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life's the thing that I can't win

CHORUS
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

The breeze along the river seems to say
That he'll only break my heart again should I decide to stay
So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow

CHORUS
Yeah, if I could I know that I would fl-y-y-y-y away with you

G'nite, Letty, I'll listen to the Duke now.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Thanks, euroGeorge for the lyrics to Snow Bird.

Why strange, Brit?

I'm assuming that your song was the theme to the TV show Taxi.

Odd about this guy.

Andrew Geoffrey "Andy" Kaufman (January 17, 1949 – May 16, 1984) was an American entertainer, actor and performance artist. While often referred to as a comedian, Kaufman did not consider himself one. He disdained telling jokes and engaging in comedy as it was traditionally understood, referring to himself instead as a "song-and-dance man". Elaborate hoaxes and pranks were major elements of his career.

He died at age 35 of lung cancer that later went to his brain. Odd in people who don't smoke.

Two songs for the morning. (at least here it's morning.)

First Status Quo.

@eurocelticyankee,
I've always liked Jack Jones. I like Sylvia's song. I already knew the song, but not the artist.

@Letty,
Marvin Gaye and Ann Murray I have known and listened to for years, of course. Harlem Nocturn is a very special number. Wonderful sound.

@Letty,
The theme from Taxi is called Angela? Hmm. That's a different take on Little White Lies for me. Celtic guitar is good, a new one for me too.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again, edgar for your comments on what we play here. Guess we'll have to wait for Barry the Brit to explain his song.

Love Ray Stevens. His haircut song was hilarious.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, and I think that he knew he was going to die, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Will most certainly respond to your forum on M.L.K, Jr., edgar.

Dear Elvis. Don't know that one by him, Texas.

Today is this lady's birthday.

María del Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Gutiérrez de los Perales Santa Ana Romanguera y de la Hinojosa Rasten (born January 15, 1951), better known as Charo, is a Spanish-American actress, comedienne, and flamenco guitarist, best known for her flamboyant stage presence, her provocative outfits, and her trademark phrase ("cuchi-cuchi")

Wish I could find a better performance by her.

G'day WA2K, how y'all doing.
Enjoyed the Celtic guitar & M.L.K's speech, uplifting.
Seen Status Quo a few times, great live, real journeymen,
always on the road. Charro was very good
The haircut song was very funny. Great to see the King doing
his thing, Dixieland Rock. I reckon Sweet Lullaby by Deep
Forest will go down as one of the greats, hard to believe it was
brought out as a dance (rave) track. Stays in your head, I'd hum
it all day.

A fine singer from way back when...just died this past week.
Perhaps her most notable hit--Baby Its Cold Outside-- a duet featuring Johnny Mercer who, surprisingly did not write the song... Frank Loesser did.
