@edgarblythe,
Totally agree with everything you said Edgar, although you seem to be a tad more open minded than Ted.
Had I known you were attending a wedding I would have brought a bag of rice for ya

@tedtcb,
tedcb, here is the place to look concerning PM's

http://able2know.org/topic/164151-3

I believe that one must be a member for a certain length of time before being able to PM someone.

In the interim, here is a tribute to Orlando Bloom since it's his birthday.

@Letty,
Thanks Letty
I’ll continue to wait for help logging in with my old user name (tcb)-- with all its posts and PM privileges.
Was it Rita Rudner who said, “I went to my girlfriend’s wedding .She was pregnant so I threw puffed rice!

@Letty,
I have heard Orlando Bloom's name before, but don't know him.
I do know the Marty Robbins song.

The wedding was before a judge, with just a few in attendance, so it went fast.

Hmmm, Where did everyone go?

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First a birthday boy. Here's a bit of info about him.

Trevor Charles Rabin (born January 13, 1954) is a South African born musician, best known as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the British progressive rock band Yes from 1983–1994, and since then, as a film composer.

@Letty,
Also did not know Kevin Anderson. I am very ignorant of the currant crop of actors. Often I don't learn their names, even when I like them.

Mornin' all.

Well, they may be crap at cricket, but there's no denying they have plenty of old fashioned grit when it comes to getting on with life when the going gets tough.

With my thoughts going out to the Aussies in Queensland, here's the Seekers with "I am Australian".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSoGJQkKDYk&feature=related

And one my Mum used to sing (in Maori) and always ended up having a sob before she'd finished, as it reminded her of her homeland.
I don't know whether the words are apt, but I'll post it anyway, dedicated to the lad in Queensland who gave his life for his little brother.

Good morning, Letty, Ed & all at WA2K.
Have not got the time unfortunately to comment on
all the wonderful music being played, suffice to say
"keep it up".
I echo O.G. in wishing our Aussie brothers & sisters
all the best, knowing full well the Aussie spirit will
triumph in the end. It's heartbreaking to see the
misery being caused by the floods.
Anyhoo got to go to work soon, later.

Here is wonderful song performed by the UK's Katie Melua..
The song was written by her producer Mike Batt who was told by a guide in Beijing that the city has 9 million bicycles, hence the the title and lyric

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHQG6-DojVw

"Nine Million Bicycles"

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a fact,
It's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die.

We are twelve billion light years from the edge,
That's a guess,
No-one can ever say it's true
But I know that I will always be with you.

I'm warmed by the fire of your love everyday
So don't call me a liar,
Just believe everything that I say

There are six BILLION people in the world
More or less
and it makes me feel quite small
But you're the one I love the most of all

[INTERLUDE]
We're high on the wire
With the world in our sight
And I'll never tire,
Of the love that you give me every night

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a Fact,
it's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die

And there are nine million bicycles in Beijing
And you know that I will love you till I die!

@tedtcb,
tcb, welcome back. I love that song and you sent me to the archives.

Ketevan "Katie" Melua (born 16 September 1984) is a Georgian-British singer, songwriter and musician. She moved to Northern Ireland at the age of eight and then to England at fourteen. Melua is signed to the small Dramatico record label, under the management of composer Mike Batt. and made her musical debut in 2003. In 2006, she was the United Kingdom's bestselling female artist, and Europe's highest selling European female artist

So, she is Russian/British with a little bit of Irish, right?

I was thinking about Ireland today as well as Italy, because during the new immigration period in America, they were stereotyped and discriminated against. Here is one of my favorite poems, buddy.

Two ‘Mericana Men
Beeg Irish cop dat walk hees beat
By den peanutta stan’,
First two, t’ree week w’en we are meet
Ees call me "Dagoman."
An’ w’en he see how mad I gat,
Wheech eesa pleass heem, too,
Wan day he say: "W’at’s matter dat,
Ain’t ‘Dago’ name for you?
Dat’s ‘Mericana name, you know,
For man from Eetaly;
Eet ees no harm for call you so,
Den why be mad weeth me?"
First time he talka deesa way
I am too mad for speak,
But nexta time I justa say:
"All righta Meester Meeck I"

O! my, I nevva hear bayfore
Sooch langwadge like he say;
An’ he don’t look at me no more
For mebbe two, t’ree day.
But pretta soon agen I see
Den beeg poleecaman
Dat com’ an’ growl an’ say to me;
"Halo, Eyetalian! Now, mebbe so you gon’ deny
Dat dat’sa name for you."
I smila back an’ mak’ reply:
"No, Irish, dat’sa true."
"Ha! Joe," be cry, "you theenk dat we
Should call you ‘Merican ?"
"Dat’s gooda ‘nough," I say, "for me,
Eef dat’s w’at you are, Dan."

So now all times we speaka so
Like gooda ‘Merican:
He say to me, "Good morna, Joe,"
I say, "Good morn, Dan."

A bit of Italian humor, y'all.

And, of course, the Irish.

@Letty,
Hi, Miss Letty,
Loved that song by Hayley Westenra & I dream of
Jeanie. First time hearing Lou Monte.
Enjoyed the best singers of rebel songs around, the
Wolfe Tones. Great song that, nine million bicycles,
always liked it.
