@edgarblythe,
and a special thanks to you for keeping us on the air, edgar. Appreciate your comments as well. Great about your granddaughter. Sweet sixteen; how delightful.

Hank Williams and The Drifters. I think I recall that one but not certain.Perhaps you played it before here.

Today is Ray Price's birthday, and he's still with us, y'all.

David Nelson has died.

Ray Price is one of my favorite country singers. I saw him perform once in San Antonio.

I grew up with David and Ricky Nelson. First, on the radio, then on TV. I did not know back then, but two actors portrayed the boys on radio. They took over playing themselves only for TV.

The Feeling - Without You.

Winters come and summers go
Last time round for all we know
Wonder what the time is in London

As they tear this world apart
Step by step it breaks my heart
Wonder what the time is in London

I know I'm not the only lonely child
Thirty dead and one teenage gun man
I wonder what the time is in London
Without you

I get up early every morning (without you)
I open up the blind and let the dawn in (without you)
And then I think about growing older (without you)
And my blood runs a little colder (without you)

It's raining hard in North Virginia
Just like London town

Tales of screams from giant screens
Full of fear and full of beans
Wonder what the news is in London

Tell me what I've always known
Life is love and love's at home
Wonder if they miss me in London

These are the things that make us glad we're still alive
Even though your heart's in the dungeon
I wonder what the time is in London (without you)

I get up early every morning (without you)
I open up the blind and let the dawn in (without you)
And then I think about growing older (without you)
And my blood runs a little colder (without you)

It's raining hard in North Virginia
Just like London town
It's raining hard in North Virginia
Just like London town

It's raining hard in North Virginia
Just like London town
It's raining hard in North Virginia
Just like London town

A sunny day in London Town with friends....

Waiting On A Sunny Day - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.Live in Hyde Park 2009.

It's rainin' but there ain't a cloud in the sky
Musta been a tear from your eye
Everything'll be okay
Funny thought I felt a sweet summer breeze
Musta been you sighin' so deep
Don't worry we're gonna find a way

I'm waitin', waitin' on a sunny day
Gonna chase the clouds away
Waitin' on a sunny day

Without you I'm workin' with the rain fallin' down
Half a party in a one dog town
I need you to chase the blues away
Without you I'm a drummer girl that can't keep a beat
And ice cream truck on a deserted street
I hope that you're coming to stay

I'm waitin', waitin' on a sunny day
Gonna chase the clouds away
Waitin' on a sunny day

Hard times baby, well they come to tell us all
Sure as the tickin' of the clock on the wall
Sure as the turnin' of the night into day
Your smile girl, brings the mornin' light to my eyes
Lifts away the blues when I rise
I hope that you're coming to stay

Top of the morning Edgar.

John Lennon once said: “Before we (The Beatles) arrived in America everyone had crew cuts and wore Bermuda shorts”

There’s much truth to that observation and to prove it all one has to do is watch a few episodes of Ozzie and Harriet.

Of course the rub is the Beatles ,who infused a modern sensibility into the very fabric of post JFK America, replete with a generous topping of irreverence, also opened the door for all kinds of socially acceptable decedent behavior.

In many ways I yearn for the white bread days of Ozzie and Harriet but
if I had to choose between them and the Beatles my plea is simple: Nolo contendere.

edgar, love Alley Cat. Hurry back, Texas.

Our Brit played several songs, but the two that I like best are Devil's Gallop and Acoustic Alchemy's Angel of the South. Great strings and jazz, buddy.

I had forgotten that the original alchemy was an attempt to change metal into gold.

Now, it is used to refer to medicine.

Ted, welcome to WA2K radio. "Top of the Morning?" You must be Irish. Razz

Odd, I went back to sleep this morning and dreamed that I was a hostage. Probably because I watched Without a Trace. Here's the song that I heard from that episode.

One for you from Frank.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emAe6IClGys

and the lyrics, buddy.

When I was seventeen
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls
And soft summer nights
Wed hide from the lights
On the village green
When I was seventeen

When I was twenty-one
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for city girls
Who lived up the stair
With all that perfumed hair
And it came undone
When I was twenty-one

When I was thirty-five
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls
Of independent means
Wed ride in limousines
Their chauffeurs would drive
When I was thirty-five

But now the days grow short
Im in the autumn of the year
And now I think of my life as vintage wine
from fine old kegs
from the brim to the dregs
And it poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year

@Letty,
Ahh Letty….Leonard Cohen’s "Halleluiah"….Beautiful (Love the way Buckley covers it)
Re "It Was a Very Good Year"

“September of My Years” is a fabulous collection of tunes that even at the ripe old age of 15 drew me even closer to Francis Albert’s flame.

Wonderful arrangements by Gordon Jenkins who like FAS won a Grammy Award (The album also won "Album of the Year"

If I may-- for you and all A2K listeners here is a song, written by Teddy Randazo (who also wrote “Goin' Out of My Head").

Sinatra sings it as only he can…to its level.

Bluebirds, flowers
Sunshine and showers
Sunsets and rainbows
On skies of red and blue
Badges, whistles
Rockets and missiles
Puppies, kittens
And penny candy too
You make me feel so new
Like carnivals and carousels
Popsicles and wishing wells
And I am so in love with you
I can't believe it's true
We're gonna make it all the way home

Magic, potions,
Incense and lotions
Bells, books and candles

Can make a witches' brew
But I don't need witches
Love spells or riches
You are my treasure
My fairy tale come true
With you is where I'll stay
All the time, anywhere
Turn around, and I'll be there
It was I, now it's we
And I know it will be
Just me and you, all the way home.
You and me, all the way home

All the way home
We're home

@tedtcb,
Wonderful lyrics, tedcb. Couldn't find it on YouTube. Thanks for your comments, buddy.

Here's a version of Going Out of my Head by The Letterman. They were inspired by The Four Freshmen, buddy. There is another song with this one as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IR-Tbc73Ik

the lyrics:

Goin' Out Of My Head
Teddy Randazzo and Bobby Weinstein

Well I think I'm going out of my head.
Yes I think I'm going out of my head
Over you, over you.

I want you to want me.
I need you so badly,
I can't think of anything but you.

I want you to want me.
I need you so badly,
I can't think of anything but you.

And I think I'm going out of my head
'cause I can't explain the tears that I shed
Over you, over you.

I see you each morning but you just walk past me
you don't even know that I exist

Going out of my head over you,
out of my head over you,
out of my head day and night,
night and day and night wrong or right.

I must think of a way into your heart.
There's no reason why my being shy should keep us apart

And I think I'm going out of my head.
Yes I think I'm going out of my head. Repeat and fade

I can accept it all. As phases of our lives evolve to something else, so these cultural influences evolve, taking us with them. Remember when Elvis and rock music were corrupting the youth? Many DJs did not want to play Whole Lot of Shakin, by Jerry Lee Lewis, because 1. it sounded 'black' and 2. He says 'well' in a way that makes it sound like 'hell'. I incorporated the new and kept the old, basically. Used to be a beatnik in spirit if not action. I love the Beatles and Dylan beyond all reason. Leonard Cohen. Now that I am old, I find it harder to keep up, but I don't condemn the new just because I don't 'get' it.

I like the Jeff Buckly cover of leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. Also that Frank Sinatra song. I don't have time for more just now. Have a wedding to attend this afternoon.

@Letty,
<Wonderful lyrics, tedcb. Couldn't find it on YouTube>

Yep Letty, Randazo is much better known for his Rock n Roll offerings than Sinatra type ballads.
While I'm typically not a fan of vocal groups like The Letterman, they do justice to the Randazo/Weinstein composition you just played.

Randazo (I think) wrote both the lyric and melody to All the Way Home

Pardon me for asking a Forum Question here but I could not find a way to PM you

I'd like to post an essay of sorts about yours truly and Nancy Sinatra (Have to write it first)...Is WA2K radio a suitable venue?
Thanks Letty
