@Letty,
I like England Dan and John Ford Coley, letty.
Blake Edwards, who this day died, is remembered best as a producer and writer. I recall him for this TV show:

@edgarblythe,
Hurry back, edgar. Loved that Peter Gunn theme. Too bad about Blake.

It's supposed to be 70 degrees here today. Shocked

Hundreds of manatees were huddling in Blue Springs, Fl because of the cold.

They won't be so cold today, methinks.

I was searching for Skipper Ireson's Ride and came up with this song. Originally done by Blood, Sweat, and Tears, here's a new version.

Deep Blue Something - Breakfast At Tiffany's.

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over,
And I hate when things are over -
When so much is left undone

And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

Any excuse to post Audrey....

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. Couldn't download your Halo, so I went to Firefox and listened. Loved that song even with its sadness.

I remember hearing Audrey sing that one, but never saw the movie. I love it because Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini did it. There really is a moon river in Savannah where he lived.

Here is Blood Sweat and Tears version of Ride Captain Ride.

Hurry back, Brit, and welcome back, Irish.

Loved Robbie Williams White Christmas.

Imelda May is fantastic. You're right, buddy. Rock a billy is my cup of tea.

Well, we all know that Christmas is really for kids, so from Walt Disney.

I like both versions of Ride captain ride. I like the music from Disney, but never agreed with the concept of having people dress as the characters to run around like that.

@edgarblythe,
You're right about the Disney characters, edgar, but I expect the kids love 'em.

Wow! I had no idea that Laura Nyro did "...and when I die.." Love that song, buddy.

Here's another by David Clayton Thomas, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Hilarious, edgar. What a song by Carl Belew. Don't Squeeze My Sharmon was a fantastic play on words. Don't know the guy, but like his voice.

Thanks once again for your comments, Texas

Speaking of Carl Belew, how about a cat.

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Marty, edgar. Incidentally, I didn't see the film either, just remembered the song. Guess it was because of Nat.

The Hanging Tree always reminds me of Judas. I have a completely different interpretation of that story, however.

Another by Marty, y'all.

In The Last Temptation of Christ (the book) Jesus leaves the cross the instant the hammer strikes the first nail. Leaves it and lives to a ripe old age, married. Before he can die as a man, Judas appears before him, still appearing young and strong. A great part of his argument with Jesus is that he owes Judas more than anybody else because Judas gave up more than anybody else, to fulfill the gospel. In the end, Jesus returns to that last instant on the cross as he knows he must.

@edgarblythe,
I always felt that Judas wanted to be a PR man for Jesus because he was so popular with the masses. When that didn't work, Judas betrayed him, then realizing what he had done, hanged himself.

Thanks for that version by Pat, edgar. Both are good.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I got a message from my daughter reminding me of when the three of us sang this glorious song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlhdKTYwdsY&feature=related

That man is fantastic.

and here are the lyrics in English.

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.

Refrain

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song?

Refrain

Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ Whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

Refrain

See Him in a manger laid,
Whom the choirs of angels praise;
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
While our hearts in love we raise.

Goodnight, all. So good to see Ireland and England with us today.

From Letty with renewed love
