Hurry back, Texas. Don't know that one by Wynn Stewart, but it's great. Thanks again for your comments.

Hey, Tai Chi. "Grab your coat and get your hat; leave your worries on the doorstep. Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street." Razz

Great one by Downchild Blues Band. Thanks for the introduction.

Here's a funny one about hats, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Marty, edgar. Had no idea San Angelo was in Texas. Thanks for the geography lesson and the song.

Well, Reston, Virginia where Wilson died is a no no! It's about one hundred miles from my Virginia home.That's where the ebola virus first surfaced in the U.S. via monkeys.

Here's James with Mexico.

Very sad, y'all.

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Cancun's eroding white sand beaches are providing a note of urgency to the climate talks being held just south of this seaside resort famed for its postcard-perfect vistas.

Rising sea levels and a series of unusually powerful hurricanes have aggravated the folly of building a tourist destination atop shifting sand dunes on a narrow peninsula. After the big storms hit, the bad ideas were laid bare: Much of Cancun's glittering hotel strip is now without a beach.

Hotels built too tall, too heavy and too close to the shore, as well as beaches stripped of native vegetation to make them more tourist-friendly, have contributed to the massive erosion.

The wise man built his house upon a rock.

Ah well, I can't afford to vacation there anyway.
I feel an affinity with Mexico. Don't know that one by James Taylor.

@edgarblythe,
Well, Texas, you sent me to the archives again.

The Cinematics are an alternative rock band from Scotland, consisting of Scott Rinning (vocals and guitar), Larry Reid (lead guitar), Adam Goemans (bass) and Ross Bonney (drums). The original line-up, with Ramsay Miller on lead guitar, formed in Glasgow, however, the members originally met at school in Dingwall.

That New Mexico song was different, and I appreciate things that we play here that ARE different.

My word, Billy the Kid was born in New York?

Here's one from Natalie about ended songs and melodies lingering.

What else can you say from a scientific point of view?

I don't want this thread being polluted, out of respect for its creator, by considerations that go far beyond its purpose.

I have theories of my own about music frequencies and them matching, because of the harmonics, the innate frequencies of the body but we can discuss them on some other threads..

Partly, but I'd consider myself a metajungian..

@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar, I love that one by The Ames Brothers.

Inspired by my painted cow with tulips and windmills on your oddities and humor discussion, I recall this one from the 1968 version of The Thomas Crown Affair.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063688/

Now, The Windmills of Your Mind which was inspired by Steve's circling with his glider. This is more than likely the meaning behind the song.

Hi. Just passing through. Monday is Dave Brubeck's 90th birthday. I heard an interview with him on NPR's Fresh Air a day or so back. He was talking about Take Five, and about how he had to fight the record company to release it. Their argument was that you couldn't dance to it.
The composer, sax player Paul Desmond, willed the proceeds from royalties to the Red Cross. The song still brings in some $100K a year.

Welcome back, John of Virginia. Thanks for that info.

Jes, You sent me to the archives again.

Barenaked Ladies (often abbreviated BNL or occasionally BnL) is a Canadian alternative rock band. The band is currently composed of Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson, and Tyler Stewart. Barenaked Ladies formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, then a suburban municipality outside the City of Toronto. They are best known for their hit singles, "One Week", "The Old Apartment", "Pinch Me", "If I Had $1000000", and "Brian Wilson"; they have won multiple Juno Awards and been nominated for Grammy Awards. They are also known for their light-hearted, comedic performance style. Their live shows are known for humorous banter between songs and improvised raps/songs, both of which are staples at virtually every concert. Original keyboardist Andy Creeggan left the band in 1995, and founding member Steven Page departed in 2009.

I did NOT realize that Brian Wilson was hooked on cocaine. The song was creepy, but good. Thanks, gal.

I won't go into the belabored details of Bud's having met Dave at the LSO concert, but it is still in my memory.

Have fun, edgar. You deserve it.

Take Five, y'all.
