Saw Doctors - Red Cortina.

and this is a red Cortina
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/Odds%20and%20sods/Cortina.jpg

Factory house outside the town
Pretty name I can't remember
Christmas party seventy seven
Heart beat like an earthly tremor

(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
(and ever and ever)
Heart beat like an earthly tremor
(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
Ever

The way to school I'd try to meet you
Your father used to drop you off
You'd step out of a red Cortina
You looked so pretty on those winter mornings

(forever)
First love stays with you forever
(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
(and ever and ever)
You looked so pretty on those winter mornings
(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
Ever

Close your eyes for just one moment
(sha la la la la la)
Disco at the start of summer
(sha la la la la la)
Sun still shining through the window
(sha la la la la la)
You were just about to blossom

(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
(and ever and ever)
You were just about to blossom
(forever and ever)
First love stays with you forever
Ever

Forever and ever ohhhh ohhhh
Forever and ever and ever

(Betty Henderson. We were 9 years old Smile ).

@Barry The Mod,
Hey, Brit. Love The Saw Doctors song, and The Red Cortina brings back a memory or two. Forever is a long time, buddy. Glad the rain washed away the snow.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, Linger Awhile.

http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=y3rpKumnEBM&feature=related

and the lyrics.

The stars shine above you,yet linger awhile
They whisper I love you,oh linger awhile

And when you have gone away
Every hour seems like a day

I've something to tell you
Oh linger awhile

and Glenn.

Goodnight, world.

From Letty with love

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Hey, Brit. Swinging All Day was great as was The Big Jay Shuffle. Thanks, London.

JPB, Love Let it Be and Eli's Coming. Ah, yitwail once played that because of the similarity to my real name. Great memory, turtle.

Hey, Rock. The Sound of the Men Working on the Chain Gang was great. Love it!

Two songs for the morning.

First a tribute to Walt Disney whose birthday is today. There are so many myths concerning the man, but we won't go that route, folks.

And, from Bach.

My word, folks, Rocky and Bullwinkle have morphed. No matter, we love you just the way you are.

@Letty,
Good morning. It was a good outing with my 'boy' last night. I don't give a hoot about extreme martial arts, but would do it again. (I didn't enjoy seeing a man get his nose busted and blood all over his face).

When I was a boy, the name Walt Disney was magic. The cartoons in particular but also some live features, such as Treasure Island, Robin Hood, When Knighthood Was in Flower. It was a dream come true, when the TV show, Disneyland, hit the air. The picture tube on our TV went on the blink when the first shows aired. We saw just ghostly outlines, but watched anyway. Later, we watched the shows at an aunt's house. She often became aggravated with various episodes and switched channels on us. "No wonder they call it Dizzyland." But she loved the Davy Crockett episodes as much as we did. Much of the glitter has worn off, in my upper adulthood, but I fondly cherish the memories and still watch some of the Walt Disney era films on occasion.
I don't think I have heard that particular Bach music before.

Martial Art, edgar? Wow! That's as bad as boxing. Loved A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.

Been to Disney World, buddy, and it is a magic kingdom.

Love this one.

@Letty,
Peggy Lee spent the rest of her life fighting Disney for what she considered her rightful pay for Lady and the Tramp.
The original concept for Darby O'Gill was a cartoon, but they decided that only a human could have that all important Irish twinkle in the eyes.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't know that about Peggy Lee, edgar. Love that Darby O'Gill and the little people.

How about a sleigh ride now. My daughter said that it promises to be a white Christmas in Virginia. UhOh!

To me Johnny Mathis is the best overall Christmas artist.
Here is a tribute to the late Timi Yuro.

@edgarblythe,
You sent me to the archives again, Texas. Don't know Timi Yuro.

Timi Yuro (born Rosemary Timothy Yuro, August 4, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois - died March 30, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American soul and R&B singer. She is considered to be one of the first blue-eyed soul stylists of the rock era. She is lovely!

One of my favorite Christmas songs, edgar. It's Scottish.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Never heard of Mose Allison, edgar. What a great jazz version of Old Devil Moon. Thanks for the introduction, buddy.

Never heard "Old Blue Eyes" version of those twelve days.

Generally, we hear this one by Mel Torme, but this one by Nat is just as good, methinks.

I posted Mel Torme, on the Holly Jolly Christmas thread, explaining how he and his co-writer wrote the Christmas song in something like 12 minutes.
Here is one by Hank Snow
