A tip for those who have trouble sleeping. Go to bed and cut off the light, and when you awake, check the number of hours that you slept. That's what you require basically. Mine is seven hours.

edgar, Sam Kinison was funny. How sad that he died so young. Walking to New Orleans by Fats is one of my favorites, Texas. Thanks again for your comments.

My word, Brit. Those photo's of the snow on the park benches and elsewhere made me shiver. It's supposed to be 82 degrees here today. Shocked

Wow! Never heard your Anglo/Indian guy. He was fantastic, buddy. Incidentally, it seems that 55 people have been killed in Delhi building collapse. Made me wince.

Today is one of my favorite vocalist's birthday, y'all.

Happy, happy Diana.

Incidentally, heard from yitwail. He's all right, just working hard.

Oh, dear. Izzie is having foot surgery today. We'll be thinking of you, hun.

Sweeney Todd - By The Sea.

MRS. LOVETT: (kisses Todd)
Ooh, Mr. Todd! (kiss)
I'm so happy! (kiss)
I could (kiss)
Eat you up, I really could!
You know what I'd like to do, Mr. Todd? (kiss)
What I dream (kiss)
If the business stays as good?
Where I'd really like to go?
In a year or so?
Don't you want to know?

TODD: (spoken)
Of course.

LOVETT:
Do you really want to know?

TODD: (spoken)
Yes. I do.

LOVETT:
By the sea, Mr. Todd, that's the life I covet,
By the sea, Mr. Todd, ooh, I know you'd love it!
You and me, Mr. T, we could be alone
In a house what we'd almost own,
Down by the sea!

TODD:
Anything you say

LOVETT:
Wouldn't that be smashing?

Think how snug it'll be underneath our flannel
When it's just you and me and the English Channel!
In our cozy retreat kept all neat and tidy,
We'll have chums over ev'ry Friday!
By the sea!
Don'tcha love the weather?
By the sea!
We'll grow old together!
By the seaside,
Woo-hoo!
By the beautiful sea!

It'll be so quiet,
That who'll come by it,
Except a seagull
Hoo, hoo!
We shouldn't try it,
Though, 'til it's legal for two-hoo!
But a seaside wedding could be devised,
Me rumpled bedding legitimized!
Me eyelids'll flutter,
I'll turn into butter,
The moment I mutter I do-hoo!

Down by the sea,
Married nice and proper
By the sea
Bring along your chopper
To the seaside hoo hoo!
By the beautiful sea!

@Barry The Mod,
I knew that Diana was married to Elvis Costello, Brit. Hurry back and thanks for that one by E.C. Red Shoes was great. That guy is great!

Saw Johnny Depp in the Sweeny Todd movie, but for those of us who need a memory jog, here is the trailer.

@Letty,
Well, happy happy to Diana.
I see Johnny Depp has a new film about to debut. The Tourist. Seems different for him, but time will tell.
Looks cold, barry. I better send this one to you

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I really enjoyed most of Johnny Depp's films. Thanks for the comment on Diana.

Ah, love The Heat is On. I think Eddie Murphy is still one funny guy. Hope he gets to make Beverly Hills Cop no. IV.

Here's an interesting tribute to Hollywood greats that have died. Some of them I know; some I don't.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, Francis Albert wasn't a very nice guy in real life, but he was one fantastic singer. Love All The Way. The only academy award that he won was in From Here to Eternity.

How many of those people did you recognize in the tribute, buddy?

Strange, because today is this guy's birthday. He was in the tribute, but I don't recall him at all.

@Letty,
There were several in the tribute I did not recognize. Some, I know more because of their celebrity than anything they did, such as Heath Ledger and River Phoenix. My all-time favorite actor is Henry Fonda.
Burgess Meridith is remembered best for his role in Rocky, but he was in lots of good roles. I did not go for the campiness of the Batman series, in which he played The Penguin.

@edgarblythe,
Odd, edgar. I didn't see the film but I read the book. Vaguely remember is was about vigilantism and how three innocent men were killed.

Guess what I do know, however, Texas.

The theme music.

@Letty,
You automatically know it's a John Ford film when you hear Red River Valley played the way it is in Ox-Bow Incident. I can't name how many films he put it in. Even The Grapes of Wrath.

Paul Simon in Africa.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't know that about John ford, edgar. Thanks for the info.

Your Paul Simon song about Diamonds on the Souls of her Shoes was great. It reminded me of this movie, buddy

@edgarblythe,
edgar, That was a rather sad song. Why is rain always used as a metaphor for hard times? Thanks, buddy, didn't know that one.

One to match.

@Francis,
Beautiful, Francis. You just gave me a memory jog.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7bhJkQd1T4

and the lyrics:

If it takes forever I will wait for you
For a thousand summers I will wait for you
Till you're back beside me, till I'm holding you
Till I hear you sigh here in my arms

Anywhere you wander, anywhere you go
Every day remember how I love you so
In your heart believe what in my heart I know
That forevermore I'll wait for you

The clock will tick away the hours one by one
Then the time will come when all the waiting's done
The time when you return and find me here and run
Straight to my waiting arms

If it takes forever I will wait for you
For a thousand summers I will wait for you
Till you're here beside me, till I'm touching you
And forevermore sharing your love

Michele LeGrand was awesome.
