Lawdy Miss Clawdy" is a song by Lloyd Price. It was first recorded by Price at the New Orleans recording studio of Specialty Records in March of 1952. It was released under the Specialty label in April and was number one on the Billboard rhythm and blues chart for seven weeks and stayed on the chart for six months. An 8-bar blues with a rolicking piano backup, with the words written by Price, but the melody adapted from the older Junker Blues (Champion Jack Dupree, 1941), it became the biggest rhythm and blues hit of the year and sold over one million copies by crossing over to the white record-buying market. It was the first hit from New Orleans to be accepted into rock and roll.The word lawdy means lord.

It's enjoyable to watch & listen to Lloyd Price's explanation to his induction in to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. He shares that after he recorded this song, he was paid $50, which was a HUGE amount at that time! Check it out - you'll surely enjoy it, too!

@edgarblythe,
Dear, edgar. Thanks so much for keeping us on the air. First, let me say that Popeye and Alfalfa were great.

Also enjoyed dear Hank, Harry, Joan, Smiley, and Lloyd. They would make a great concert, buddy. Razz

Thanks for the info on Lloyd and the song Lawdy Miss Clawdie, it matches Good Golly Miss Mollie.

Speaking of concerts, Ian Anderson and his band, Jethro Tull were FANTASTIC!

The only part of his two hour performance that was a bit hard on my ears, was the all electronic sound.

Ian, of course, did his dancing bit while playing the flute, and his acoustic guitar player did Flamenco. The piano player was something else! They were all great musicians. Here are the two songs that I recognized.

Thick as a Brick, plus this one, y'all.

Hope our Brit returns later. Peggy Lee's coffee ought to give him the energy that he needs.

@Barry The Mod,
Hey, Brit. Glad to see Peggy Lee's coffee gave you energy.

Loved that version of Sir Elton's Your Song. Don't know Ellie Goulding, but she did it justice. Thanks! Be sure and check out Ian and crew.

Today is one of my favorite lady's birthdays. Here is a tribute to her, y'all.

@Letty,
Congrats on the concert, letty. Thanks for the songs by Jethro Tull.
I am a Whoopi Goldberg fan, although I don't think she chooses her roles all that wisely.

@edgarblythe,
Yep, edgar. Our Brit's songs were great, especially "the sprouts". Aren't they miniature cabbages?

Thanks again, buddy, for your comments on what we play on WA2K.

Well, buddy, you know that I really like Brook Benton. Walk on the Wild Side was fantastic. Didn't know that it was offered to Ray, however.

My daughter said that Bob Dylan's concert was so awesome that words could not describe it. She also liked the band who was with him.

Here are some of the songs that he did:

Rainy Day Women
It Ain't Me, Babe
Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again
Love Sick
The Levee's Gonna Break
Desolation Row
Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
Simple Twist Of Fate
High Water (for Charlie Patton)
Tangled Up In Blue
Highway 61 Revisited
Workingman's Blues
Thunder On The Mountain
Ballad Of A Thin Man
Jolene
Like A Rolling Stone

Today is Robert Louis Stevenson's birthday. Here is a pictorial tribute to him.

Had no idea that he is buried in Samoa.

R L Stevenson covered a wide variety of subject matter. I admire him greatly.
Well, here is Barbara Mason. She tells us she is ready.
