@edgarblythe,
edgar, Gary Indiana was funny. Never heard that one before by Robert.

You Say Yes and I say No by the Fab Four was great. I assume that you're talking about Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First the trombones.

Now, a great memory.

From Letty with love and a wonderful memory.

Good memories, both songs, letty.
When I was fourteen, the girl next door would sometimes sing this song across the fence at me:

The Yanks here probably know this already but it took me completley by surprise Shocked ....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEER LEADING!
Princeton graduate Thomas Peebles introduced the idea of organized crowds cheering at football games to the University of Minnesota. However, it was not until 1898 that University of Minnesota student Johnny Campbell directed a crowd in cheering "Rah, Rah, Rah! Ski-u-mah, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah!”, making Campbell the very first cheerleader and November 2, 1898 the official birth date of organized cheerleading. Soon after, the University of Minnesota organized a "yell leader" squad of 6 male students, who still use Campbell's original cheer. In 1903 the first cheerleading fraternity, Gamma Sigma was founded.Cheerleading started out as an all-male activity, but females began participating in 1923, due to limited availability of female collegiate sports and men being drafted for war. At this time, gymnastics, tumbling, and megaphones were incorporated into popular cheers, and are still used. It is estimated that 97% of cheer leading participants overall are female, but males still make up 50% of cheering squads at the collegiate level.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

It is really dark here.

edgar, Don't Be Cruel by Elvis was great. Hmmm, why did that gal sing that one to you?

Never heard Sailor by Petula Clark. Really good; thanks, Texas, for your comment and your songs.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. Dinah and Brook did a great job with A Rockin' Good Way.

Well, well. Being a cheerleader was always a plus when I was in high school. Great tribute.

Remember The Dallas Cowgirls?

Today is K.D. Lang's birthday, so here is a great one by her, y'all.

Good morning all. letty, I love KD Lang's song. She is a fine artist. Francis and barry's are also very great. The song about Sailor, was not the version of the song I always knew. I learned first this German version.

Fantastic montage of music today on WA2K.

Hey, Brit. Throw me one of those golden apples of the Sun after you climb the stairs. Hoe Down was a great one by E. L. and P.

Fantastic love song in Greek, Francis. Still have my dad's Greek book. How odd is that.

edgar, Great song in German about sail on. Hurry back, buddy.

I always think of The Odyssey when I think Greek. O Brother Where Art Thou was supposed to parallel Homer's tale, but then I found out that The Cohen Brothers hadn't read that Greek myth.

A couple of songs for the late morning. First, Art Blakey plays Skylark which K.D.Lang did so well.

Now, someone else's interpretation of Homer.

Joyce's Ulysses parallels The Odyssey pretty much, too, letty. But it all takes place in a 24 hr period in Ireland. In one scene, Bloom is escaping the wrath of a man wearing a patch over one eye. That one is of course the cyclops.
I enjoy Homer's tale. The films of it always fall short, in my view. This series of videos is an ambitious project.

As much as I love a good western movie, I did not particularly enjoy this one. I do love the theme music.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that aquarium visual is the most captivating sight that I have ever seen. Never did see the Magnificent Seven, but I like the theme as well.

Hmmm. Been to Sea World and have seen that aquarium, but it doesn't compare to Spain's.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment, Texas. George Baker's Little Green Bag was a good one. I recall it from the movie Reservoir Dogs. Thanks for the reminder.

@edgarblythe,
Hilarious, edgar. Was that Stan Freberg doing Jack Webb? I love parodies. Tried to find the short one where Riding hood took out a gun and shot the wolf, because she knew that wasn't her grandmother. It may have been Thurber.

The moral: Little girls now a days aren't as easy to fool as they used to be.

Well, Today is Bunny Berigan's birthday, and this great early jazz song was done by many, but I'm like you. I want to hear the original.
