Hey, Brit. Loved The Days of Wine and Roses. Lee was a "dry alcoholic". All the good ones are by Johnny and Henry it would seem.

Urs, Welcome back. That song Out of the Light was fabulous but sad. Just found out that the man died in a car accident. Thanks, hun, for the introduction.

Here's one from "the boss" for you and your Swede.

Been years since I heard Johnny sing Give My Love to Rose. Bruce gives it a good going over.

Octopus's Garden is a goodie. Ringo had a number of good songs.

Here is an early Johnny song

@edgarblythe,
Hey, Texas. Thanks again for the comments. Never heard Johnny do Luther Played the Boogie. That was early.

Here's the very first one that I heard by the cash man.

Funny, I don't recall one bit of the show.

Yep! we're all trying to recover from our dearly departed folks

@Letty,
They were about to tap Elvis Presley to sing Johnny Yuma, but Nick Adams, the star, convinced them to go Johnny Cash.

These oldies make me nostalgic. Here is one from nearly the same time

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the info on who was originally tapped to do Johnny Yuma. That's right; it was Nick Adams. I had forgotten the star of the show.

Don't know Billy Bland, but Let the Little Girl Dance was cute.

You know, edgar, I didn't realize how great the Four Lads are. Here's an oldie but goody by them.

@edgarblythe,
That was great music, edgar. Don't think there's a full moon tonight, so the Wolfman can stay in his studio. Smile

Thanks again for your comment on The Four Lads, Texas.

Here's some interesting news, y'all.

By Stefano Ambrogi Stefano Ambrogi – Thu Oct 7, 6:08 am ET

LONDON (Reuters Life!) – A lost flute concerto by 18th century composer and virtuoso violinist Antonio Vivaldi has been discovered by an academic among a set of dusty papers housed in Scotland's National Archives in Edinburgh.

Don't think this is the one, but it's lovely and a wonderful way to say goodnight.

Nice concerto. It makes me wonder how many potentially great pieces of music are so hidden.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning WA2K and edgar.

Really enjoyed The Four Preps and their Big Man song. Once again, you sent me to the archives, Texas.

The Four Preps are an American popular music male quartet. In the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, the group amassed eight gold singles and three gold albums. Its million-selling signature tunes include "26 Miles," "Big Man," "Lazy Summer Night," and "Down by the Station."

The Four Preps' numerous television and motion picture appearances include four years on Ozzie and Harriet backing heartthrob Ricky Nelson and with Sandra Dee in the Gidget movie. Their most recent television appearance was with the award-winning PBS special, Magic Moments.

Well, today is Joe Green's birthday and also palindrome day. 10/10/10. Supposedly, this date occurs once every century.

Guess our Mame is getting married today.

Happy birthday Giuseppe Verdi.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for the comment on Joe Green. Don't know Christie Lane, but somehow that song Shake Me I Rattle was rather sad. Christie has a pleasing voice.

Today is Thelonious Monk's birthday, but first a little info on a great jazz man.

Thelonious Sphere Monk (October 10, 1917 – February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer considered "one of the giants of American music". Monk had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "Epistrophy", "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser" and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second most recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington, which is particularly remarkable as Ellington composed over 1,000 songs while Monk wrote about 70.

A tribute by Dr. John.

@edgarblythe,
Funny, edgar. I've been trying to find out where I Went to the Animal Fair originated. No luck as yet. Thanks for the smile.

Today is Tanya Tucker's birthday, so here is one by her.
