@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar. Loved I'll Be There by Bobby.

More synchronicity, Texas. Today is my daughter's birthday and I sent her a card with the photo of her when she was just a wee thing, so this is for her.

Anything by Bobby Darin is likely my favorite, letty. I have two very long tapes of Bobby's songs. I regret they are not on CDs, since tape players are hard to maintenance and tapes are hard to preserve.

I have thought of this song several times during the week. Time to exorcise it by playing it on the radio

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Unfortunately, edgar, I don't remember Frank Ifield. What an interesting version of a Johnny Mercer song that he wrote for Judy Garland.

Here's another take on that one.

Love the way we compare music on WA2K radio.

@edgarblythe,
Oh, my gawd, edgar. Those guys are hilarious. I wish I could find their parody on Settin' the Woods on Fire. All I can remember is:

We can't sing and we ain't funny
Buy this record won't ya honey
Poor old Victor needs the money
Settin' the woods on fire.

Smile

Our Ursula is back from Austria and I do think that is where the Von Trapp family sang this one, y'all. This is a different version than Julie Andrews'.

I am unfamiliar with the artist on that version of Sound of Music, letty.

@edgarblythe,
I was unfamiliar with her as well, edgar. I just like to hear different versions of a familiar song.

I have NEVER heard Perry Como do a bad song. Welcome to My hacienda was lovely. Thanks, Texas.

A lot of people don't like Hank Snow the "singer ranger", but I do, so here is another hacienda song.

When I was a boy, Hank Snow was my mom's favorite artist.
Well, I am listening to Leonard Cohen right now.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Leonard, edgar. So Long Marianne is fabulous.

I never think of Yo Yo Ma that I don't think of "You Got the Right String Baby but the Wrong Yo Yo." I've heard it by Jerry Reed, but here's a new discovery.

Some info on the man, folks.

William "Willie" Lee Perryman (October 19, 1911 – July 25, 1985 usually known professionally as Piano Red and later in life as Dr. Feelgood, was an American blues musician, the first to hit the pop music charts. He was a self-taught pianist who played in the barrelhouse blues style (a loud percussive type of blues piano suitable for noisy bars or taverns). His performing and recording careers emerged during the period of transition between completely segregated "race music" and "rhythm and blues", which was marketed to white audiences. Some music historians credit Perryman's 1950 recording "Rocking With Red" for the popularization of the term rock and roll in Atlanta. His simple, hard-pounding left hand and his percussive right hand, coupled with his cheerful shout brought him considerable success over three decades.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I love that song. It's one that I know and don't know why I know it. Rather like The Japanese Sandman.

Thanks again for the comment, Texas.

I recall having played Yo Yo Ma and Chris Botti. He is an excellent trumpet man. A new discovery as well.

Here is my goodnight song by him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8AZvM-xxWY&feature=related

Nat did that one, too.

lyrics.

When I fall in love
It will be forever
Or I'll never fall in love

In a restless world
Like this is
Love is ended before it's begun
And too many
Moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun

When I give my heart
I give it completely
Or I'll never give my heart

And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you.

Goodnight world.

Nice to see Paris and London with us.

From Letty with love

@Letty,
Shina No Yoru is called China Nights here. I played it once by Kyu Sakamoto. It was from a 1940s Japanese movie.

When I fall in Love is a great song. I love the play/film it came from.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, loved that version of my favorite Japanese song, although I liked the original better, Texas. Never saw that Japanese movie which makes me wonder why I know the song.

Thanks again for your comments.
