@edgarblythe,
Great one by Teresa Brewer, edgar. Er, did Jerry Lee do a bell song as well?

Yep, I suspect that the George's are resting up and not ready to waltz again. Smile

Today is Olivia Newton-John's birthday, and I can't think of a better tribute than this one by Matt Monroe. (love he way he pronounces "portrait".)

I don't recall that Jerry did a bell song. But one never knows, for the future
Good tribute to Olivia. Great song by Matt.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Jerry Lee looks tired somehow. That upright piano reminds me of my mom's kimball. What a great sound it got.

Hope Jerry Lee can return with full vigor.Thanks for your observance of Matt and Olivia, buddy.

Today is George Gershwin's birthday, so here is "sassy" Sarah to do a tribute to the man who died so young.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for the comments, edgar. I don't think I ever heard Ray Charles do a bad one, buddy. Love that one in particular.

Today is Julie London's birthday so let's hear a tribute to her.

@Letty,
I always liked Julie London. I believe she was Jack Webb's wife, but my memory is not clear on that.

@edgarblythe,
Had to do more research, edgar. Yes, she was married to Jack Webb and then to Bobby Troup. Lost all of her children. Sad life, really.

Love that one by Tony Orlando, edgar. Oh boy! We're back to gypsies. Wonder if he was talking about Gypsy Rose Lee? Couldn't find that one.

More of the same, folks.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I watched and listened twice. Those dear people were just wandering from place to place and made up for their dire circumstances through music and togetherness. Great historical drama, buddy. Thanks.

Guess we'll have to change gears after that one, Texas, cause today is Marty Robbins' birthday and he sings about John Denver's "Gee it's good to be Back Home again."

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs. Another by Julie London.

First Julie. She is better than I remember as the only one that I ever heard her do was Cry Me a River.

@Letty,
He is good on South Of the Border, natch.
I agree about Julie London. She just never got the hype other artists get.
The last video was a great one, letty.
My good night song is by Liberace.

Good morining, WA2K folks.

Hey, Brit. Fantastic songs, buddy. Anita Skorgan's Is it True was great. Thanks for the introduction.

Marv Johnson's Come to Me was lovely as well. Ah, Guy and Petula's alphabet song. I remember both of them. Great way to learn, right?

Well, edgar, hurry back and I think we all know and love Unchained Melody. Had no idea that Liberace played it, however.

How about some big Joe Turner advice for the day:

Thinking about The Bard this afternoon.

Shakespeare: The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred within their bones.

I do hope that is not the way it is with Eddie Fisher.

In edgar's "Songs That Tell Stories" discussion, I was inspired by neco nomad and played these two songs. Eddie was referred to as "sonny boy" by his dad, and Al Jolson sang that one. Eddie in turn sang this song for his dad, and I think we should remember them both for their music.

First Al.
