@edgarblythe,
Wow! I thought Harry Belafonte was the first to do that one, edgar. I like that version.

Speaking of bananas, bet you don't know this one. Smile

I have heard a few shortened versions of that song. I like Chiquita Banana.

When Belafonte recorded Banana Boat Song, there were three records of it already, all competing for air play. Belafonte eventually outsold the others. Belafonte's version was on the first RCA album to sell a million copies.

@edgarblythe,
That was an awesome song by Donovan, edgar. The baby crying perked me up.

Also appreciate your comments and the explanation of Harry's version.

Here's a birthday boy today, and although I don't know him, I think he's worth a listen. First some info on Moby.

Richard Melville Hall (born September 11, 1965) better known by his stage name Moby, is an American DJ, singer-songwriter, and musician.

He sings and plays keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums. Moby became a successful artist on the ambient electronica scene, and achieved eight top 40 singles in the UK during the 1990s. In 1999 he released the album Play, a mix of melancholic chill-out, ambient music, and upbeat electronica, that was critically acclaimed and produced an impressive eight hit singles (including his most popular songs "Porcelain", "Natural Blues" and "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?"). Play became a commercial and cultural phenomenon, selling over 10 million copies worldwide, (the best-selling electronica album ever) and with its eighteen songs receiving an unprecedented licensing in films, television and commercial advertisement

Now his song for today.

I recall Moby the DJ. I did not know him as a musician. Very good.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I had forgotten what a superb voice Ed Ames has. Mary in the Morning is beautiful. Thanks for the memory.

Well, Texas, I guess you have been following Michael Douglas' woes. Here is a tribute to the man.

Hate to see Michael's troubles. I was not an instant fan, when he began his career, but I now like him in several films.

@edgarblythe,
I have come to appreciate abstract paintings, edgar. The Bird is different, but I do believe that I like JLNobody's better. Smile

Do you ever wonder if some artists and writers "play around" with the general public?

Take, for instance, this play by Samuel Beckett.

Don't know what the maker of the video was thinking. I certainly would not have put it on line.

@edgarblythe,
Bobby Bare was funny, edgar. Reminded me a bit of Bob Dylan. Thanks for the smile.

Connie Francis' Old Time Rock and Roll was great as well.

How about a little Earth, Wind, and Fire, buddy.
