@edgarblythe,
edgar, Love that one by Harry Nilsson. What a voice and I especially like the acoustic guitar. Well, Harry, sometimes I don't know where I'm going either.

Thanks again for your comment on the Fab four, Texas.

Here's a big shocker, folks. Today is Leslie Cheung's birthday, and although I don't know this man from Hong Kong, I am awed by these two songs and grieved over his death at age 46 by suicide. A loss to the world.

First a better tomorrow in his own language.

Now his version of American Pie.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Had no idea that Pat did that one, Texas. Love it! Here's one to match by Gershwin ala jazz replete with lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4yxTkzrsgs&feature=related

Got a little rhythm, a rhythm, a rhythm
That pit-apats through my brain;
So darn persistent,
The day isn't distant
When it'll drive me insane.
Comes in the morning
Without any warning,
And hangs around me all day.
I'll have to sneak up to it
Someday, and speak up to it.
I hope it listens when I say:

Fascinating Rhythm,
You've got me on the go!
Fascinating Rhythm,
I'm all a-quiver.

What a mess you're making!
The neighbors want to know
Why I'm always shaking
Just like a flivver.

Each morning I get up with the sun --
Start a-hopping,
Never stopping --
To find at night no work has been done.

I know that
Once it didn't matter --
But now you're doing wrong;
When you start to patter
I'm so unhappy.

Won't you take a day off?
Decide to run along
Somewhere far away off --
And make it snappy!

Oh, how I long to be the man I used to be!
Fascinating Rhythm,
Oh, won't you stop picking on me?

@edgarblythe,
Don't know She's a Woman by the Fab Four, edgar. Really liked it, but how about some more synchronicity. I played this one on Izzie's liner

I have only heard that song once before, letty.
John is one of my favorite people. No saint, by any stretch. A person can be dissected in ways to expose flaws, but that could be done to anybody.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, the Mersey Street Beat, edgar. Love that one by Jerry and the Pacemakers.

We forgot Fred MacMurray's birthday, Texas. Saying goodnight with a tribute to him.

Happy belated, buddy.

@Letty,
When they invented Captain Marvel (known by many these days as Shazam), they gave him Fred MacMurray's face.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, thanks for the explanation about Fred and The Captain.

You're right, Texas. Loved your Chinese goodnight song, buddy. Marty's Utah song was wonderful as well.

Rocky, Those Tubular Bells music was awesome, and Rex, The Grateful Dead's Baby Blue was lovely, too.

First day of September deserves a song, methinks.

@edgarblythe,
Didn't even know that anyone still drew Captain Marvel, edgar. Don't forget to check out our jazz song for today. That woman(don't know her) is truly fabulous with great intonation.

Hey, Where's Barry the Brit? Here's another British Barry and today is his birthday.

Barry Alan Lee Maddison Crompton Gibb, CBE (born 1 September 1946), is a singer, songwriter and producer. He was born on the Isle of Man to English parents. With his brothers Robin and Maurice, he formed the Bee Gees, one of the most successful pop groups of all time. The trio got their start in Australia, and found their major success when they returned to England. Known for his high-pitched falsetto singing voice, Gibb holds the record for consecutive Billboard Hot 100 Number Ones as a writer with six. He also is the only songwriter to have written or co-written five songs that were simultaneously in the Top Ten.

Hope our Brit is staying alive, y'all. Smile

@Letty,
The September Song - I always look to September to break the mysery of a hot summer. Septembers usually are hot, but the nights moderate and we sometimes get a front or two.

Barry Gibb - one of the great songwriter/performers.

Got some Doc Watson here -

@edgarblythe,
Loved that Handsome Molly by Doc Watson. What a great old time guitar picker, edgar. Thanks for the introduction.

I've been searching everywhere for the song "I Bring Home the Bacon 'cause I'm a Family Man."

Here's a goody. Today is Conway Twitty's birthday.

First concert I attended was Conway Twitty, in Corpus Christi. He attracted all of 400 people. - mainly because Jerry Lee Lewis was in nearby Alice, Texas the same night. Jerry got a crowd of 8,000. It was just a spur of the moment thing. I was riding with my older brother and he stopped and bought me a ticket. I went in alone, while he ran around with his friends.
