@Barry The Mod,
Hey, Brit. You've such a great sense of humor. (I would add the "u" but it would show having been misspelled)

Today is Maureen McGovern's birthday, so guess what I'm going to play, y'all.

Everything in my morning sunlight has fallen into the sere. <sigh> Dove gone; pigeon gone; moorhens gone; grass brown.

Thinking about Roberta's scarlet ibises, I just realized that James Hurst only wrote that one short story.

Quote of the day:

There is within us, and with sadness I have seen it in others, a cruelty borne by the stream of love.

morning after is one of those great songs I like.
turkish march is a good one
Shimmy like my sister kate - delightful novelty song.

Many think of Crazy Guggenheim (TV) and John L C Slivoney (radio) when they think of Frank Fontaine. But, he also had a nice singing voice.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Frank Fontaine, edgar, but I liked that song, When Your Old Wedding Ring is New. Thanks for the introduction, Texas, and the comments.

Here's a man that's older than Frank, y'all.Smile

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I love that one by Kenny Rogers. Through the Years is marvelous, and I listened twice.

Guess who is performing together tonight in Philadelphia, y'all. They're doing it for charity.

Yep, The Queen of Soul and Condoleezza Rice. Had no idea that Condi could play piano. I had no idea that her given name was spelled that way, however.

Here's Aretha first

Now Condi.

Remember, you heard it first here on WA2K radio. Smile

I didn't know for the longest time that Respect was originally by Otis Redding, and written by him.
Condoleeza was surprising all right. Never would have guessed.
Here is another piano player

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Breathless by Jerry Lee, edgar. That guy always amazes me, however.

Remember Madonna as Breathless in Dick Tracy?

This isn't the greatest example, but I've decided to test it out.

@Izzie,
Izzie, That song by Jack Johnson was fantastic. Love it when a man sings about his daughter with the only instrument being an acoustic guitar. Thanks, hun, lovin' you as well.

Wow! our Iz just reminded me of an old frat song.

I sort of liked the Dick Tracy movie. I was fascinated by Madonna's role in it.

@edgarblythe,
That was hilarious. Love parodies, edgar. I recall the first time that I heard that one by Billy Ray Cyrus I thought he was saying my "hanky panky" heart. Smile

I found this one for someone on the old A2K who was searching for it, and although I don't know it, I like it, folks.

I thought at first that song would be a cover of this Beatles song. But it's very nice.

@edgarblythe,
You played that one twice, edgar, but it was worth hearing twice. Smile

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with Old Blues Eyes. He wasn't a very nice guy, but I think it had to do with treatment of the Italians in the second immigration period in America. He certainly sang great, so it doesn't matter now.

I cannot believe who wrote this song

Goodnight, my friends

Morning Ms Letty,Ed,Izzie and all WA2K peeps.Thanks to Ed for the memory jog,this was announced on Monday....

Hugh Laurie To Release Blues Album.

"Hugh Laurie has signed a deal to record a blues album.

The House actor, who taught himself to play the guitar and piano, will release the record with Warner label WME, according to PA.

"I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity," the 51-year-old said. "I know the history of actors making music is a chequered one, but I promise no one will get hurt.I am particularly thrilled to be working with Joe Henry, who has produced some of my favourite records of all time, and I can't wait to get started."

Henry has worked with artists such as Elvis Costello and Solomon Burke, and has written songs for Madonna and Madeleine Peyroux.

Laurie's album will be released this autumn."

Back to the music....
