@edgarblythe,
Speaking of harp and surfing, edgar. A lot of surfers (the kind in the ocean) are often attacked by sharks because the surf board resembles a harp seal.

Sweet little fellow.

Love that one by Dinah, but somehow, it made me a bit sad. What a voice!

Stranger on earth; stranger in paradise.

Matt does that better than Tony, letty.
A man at Galveston was bitten by a shark while surfing, only a few days ago.

THe Kinks sing about Shangrila

@edgarblythe,
Great one by the Kinks, edgar. Many people, including me, have been fascinated with that place. I read the book by James Hilton, and I searched everywhere for a trailer to the old movie, with no luck.

Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. In the book, "Shangri-La" is a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains. Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise but particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia — a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world. In the novel Lost Horizon, the people who live at Shangri-La are almost immortal, living years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly aging in appearance. The word also evokes the imagery of exoticism of the Orient. In the ancient Tibetan scriptures, existence of 7 such places is mentioned as Nghe-Beyul Khimpalung. One of such places is mentioned to be situated somewhere in the Makalu-Barun region.

Today is George Washington Carver's birthday, and we can thank him for the peanut.

We think of Carver as being from a distant past, but he did not die so long ago.

I haven't read the book, but I have seen the film about Lost Horizon.

@edgarblythe,
I vaguely recall from that oldie that I watched one evening on AMC that when the lady left Shangri-La SHE grew old.

Thanks, edgar. There was a musical about that famous place as well.

How about a little Chet Baker now.

I recall seeing Chet Baker's name before, but don't remember his records. He was pretty good.
Song of India is great by Mario and a few other artists I could think of.

Good morning from your producer here in Florida.

edgar, where did you get those peepers? Great goodnight song, and don't stay away too long.

Brit, Loved the Tamil Anthem and the visuals were awesome.

Prince's Act of God sent a good strong message. Let people be who they want to be.

John and Annie's Orange Dude Blues was great. For once, I enjoyed the harmonica.

Francis, Had no idea Julie London sang Sway. Great song; great voice.

I Am Calling You was awesome, and the last bit, goodnight my angel brings back a memory. Loved the visuals on that one as well.

Today is Harrison Ford's birthday, so here is a tribute to the man.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for that Tom T Hall song. Never heard that one, but I have always liked hard cuttin' gospel music.

A couple of songs for the afternoon. First, a birthday girl.

Now one that I came across in searching for the Wright Brothers and the story that indicated they were NOT the first in flight. (thanks edgar and hingehead)

I don't know the birthday girl, but I do like Bluegrass music. That flying machine song is a bit different from what I anticipated. I thought I knew it, but I guess not.
There are not that many really good airplane songs I can think of. Could not find one I like enough to put on the radio.
