@edgarblythe,
I love it for the music, edgar. I can see why Texas would give it a thumbs up, however.

Here's an answer to the Brit's Phil Collins song.

Sometimes, it's just the idea of it.

One from the archives....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQKLi0Ii_y0
Howard Jones - What Is Love - live Prince's Trust Rock Gala, June 1988

I love you whether or not you love me
I love you even if you think I don’t
Sometimes I find you doubt my love for you
But I don’t mind
Why should I mind, Why should I mind

What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway

Can anybody love anyone so much that they will never fear
Never worry never be sad
The answer is they cannot love this much nobody can
This is why I don’t mind you doubting

What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway

And maybe love is letting people be just what they want to be
The door always must be left unlocked
To love when circumstance may lead someone away from you
And not to spend the time just doubting

What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
Izzie

I have to stop procrastinating, too.

Wow! what a great bunch of music reflecting those "different perspectives".

I guess love boils down to our individual experiences.

One more from Tina, then I'll be back to acknowledge each contribution.

This is what I have hoped for all along; different input from different countries.

My fave Summer love song....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKXi2HUUCng
Bobby Goldsboro - Summer The First Time.

It was a hot afternoon,
Last day of June,
And the sun was a demon,
The clouds were afraid,
One-ten in the shade,
And the pavement was steaming.
I told Billy-Ray,
In his red Chevrolet,
I needed time for some thinking,
I was just walking by,
When I looked in her eye,
And I swore it was winking.

She was 31 and I was 17,
I knew nothing about love, she knew everything,
When I sat down beside her on the front porch swing,
And wondered what the coming night would bring.

The sun closed her eyes,
As it climbed in the sky,
And it started to swelter,
The sweat trickled down the front of her gown,
And I thought it would melt her.

She through back her hair,
Like I wasn't there,
And she sipped on a julep,
Her shoulders were bare,
And I tried not to stare,
When I looked at her lips.

And when she looked at me,
I heard her softly say,
I know you're young,
You don't know what to do or say,
But stay with me until the sun has gone away,
And I will chase the boy in you away.

And then she smiled and we talked for a while,
And we walked for a mile to the sea,
We sat on the sand, and the boy took her hand,
But I saw the sun rise as a man.

Ten years have gone by,
Since I looked in her eye,
But the memory lingers,
I go back in my mind,
To the very first time,
And feel the touch of her fingers,

It was a hot afternoon,
Last day of June,
And the sun was a demon,
The clouds were afraid,
One-ten in the shade,
And the pavement was steaming...

Wow! Great songs, y'all.
edgar, Jackie's "Someone to care; someone to share"

and that one by England Dan and Tom Ford Colley, I've never heard. My fav by them is I'd Really Loved to See You Tonight.

Izzie, hun. Love doesn't hurt; people do.

Our Brit is on a roll, folks.

I like the line from Howard Jones' song that observes: "the door must be left unlocked."

Betty Everett's Shoop Shoop reminded me of You'd better Shop Around. Smile

Loved the name of your group. The Average White Band"? Couldn't get past that.

Summer the First Time was dear.

Nope, not gonna do "fools rush in where angels fear to tread; and so I come to you my love, my heart above my head."

Here's one by Stan Getz that anyone can react to the way they want.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg1xlLufxIU&feature=related

and a classical one that is rather teary, y'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaZxDBHmL64

The English lyrics begin:

None but the lonely heart,
Can know my sadness,
Alone and parted from all joy and gladness.

Y'all can look up the rest of them. Smile

I've been looking everywhere for the song written by Johnny Mercer and sung by Andrea King in Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid. No luck, however.

Funny, edgar. During my search I ran across your statement via the same thing. Hey, WA2K made google. Smile

Stranded in the Jungle was great and funny.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a tribute to a great actor whose birthday is today.

First, a little info.

Frederick Hubbard "Fred" Gwynne (July 10, 1926 – July 2, 1993) was an American actor. Gwynne is best known for his roles in the 1960s sitcoms Car 54, Where Are You? and The Munsters, as well as one of his last roles: in the 1992 feature film My Cousin Vinny.

For you, Fred.

From Letty with love to you all.
