Hey, folks. There's that handsome Scot waving to us via satellite all the way from Germany. Ah, we're soooooo sorry it's cold and rainy and wet.

Give everyone there a big hugs from us, Briscot. (combination of both countries)

Ah, it's nice and peaceful in this thread. No silly nattering about A2K elections and nasty talk, etc.

Think I'll just sit a while and listen to the tunes.... Very Happy

All right, my friend. Let me look through the stacks.

And this is for our Reyn:

So Quiet in Here

Foghorns blowing in the night
Salt sea air in the morning breeze
Driving cars all along the coastline
This must be what it's all about
Oh this must be what it's all about
This must be what paradise is like
So quiet in here, so peaceful in here
So quiet in here, so peaceful in here

The warm look of radiance on your face
And your heart beating close to mine
And the evening fading in the candle glow
This must be what it's all about
Oh this must be what it's all about
This must be what paradise is like
So quiet in here. so peaceful in here
So quiet in here, yeah, so peaceful in here

All my struggling in the world
And so many dreams that don't come true
Step back, put it all away
It don't matter, it don't matter anymore
Oh this must be what paradise is like
This must be what paradise is like
It's so quiet in here, so peaceful in here
It's so quiet in here, so peaceful in here

A glass of wine with some friends
Talking into the wee hours of the dawn
Sit back and relax your mind
This must be, this must be, what it's all about
This must be what paradise is like
Oh this must be what paradise is like
So quiet in here, so peaceful in here
So quiet in here, so peaceful in here

Big ships out in the night
And we're floating across the waves
Sailing for some other shore
Where we can be what we wanna be
Oh this must be what paradise is like
This must be what paradise is like
Baby it's so quiet in here, so peaceful in here
So quiet in here, so peaceful in here
So quiet in here, so peaceful in here
So quiet in here, you can hear, it's so quiet

You're welcome, Reyn, and that one was from me and Van Morrison. Razz

You know, listeners. There comes a point in everyone's life when we contemplate, meditate on the why's and wherefore's, and often it works, and sometimes not, but regardless, we try and insinuate ourselves into the other's shoes. That is, and always will be, the purpose of WA2K radio.

WHAT AM I LIVING FOR
Chuck Willis
Words and music by Fred Jay and Art Harris

What am I living for if not for you,
What am I living for if not for you,
What am I living for if not for you,
oh nobody else, nobody else will do

What am I longing for each lonely night,
To feel your lips to mine, to hold you tight
You'll be the only girl my whole life through,
Oh nobody else, nobody else will do

I want you close to me that's all I know,
I want you all the time because darling I love you so

What am I living for if not for you,
What am I living for if not for you,
What am I living for if not for you,
Baby nobody else, nobody else will do

What am I living for if not for you,
Darling nobody else, nobody else will do
nobody else, nobody else will do

I just phoned the radio station to say, Clary and Urs, Dys and Diane, C.I. and Walter, are very good companions to share a dinner table with in a small town in Germany....or anywhere else.

Sorry if I have posted this before, but it's one of my favorite recordings.

Sukiyaki

- #1 hit in 1963 for Kyu Sakamoto. Kyu (pronounced "cue") was one

- released in Japan as "Ue O Muite Aruko" (I Look Up When I Walk)

ue o muite arukou

shiawase wa kumo no ueni
shiawase wa sora no ueni

ue o muite arukou
namida ga kobore naiyouni

kanashimi wa hosino kageni
kanashimi wa tsukino kageni

ue o muite arukou
namida ga kobore naiyouni
nakinagara aruku
hitoribotchi no yoru

(whistling)

-----------------------

Translation:

I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall
Remembering those happy spring days
But tonight I'm all alone

I look up when I walk, counting the stars with tearful eyes
Remembering those happy summer days
But tonight I'm all alone

Happiness lies beyond the clouds
Happiness lies above the sky

I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall
Though my heart is filled with sorrow
For tonight I'm all alone

(whistling)
Remembering those happy autumn days
But tonight I'm all alone

Sadness hides in the shadow of the stars
Sadness lurks in the shadow of the moon

I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall
Though my heart is filled with sorrow
For tonight I'm all alone

oh carry my loved one,
Home safely to me.
He sails at the dawning
All day I've been blue.
Red sails in the sunset,
I'm trusting in you,
Swift wings you must borrow,
Make sail for the shore,
We marry tomorrow,
And he goes sailing no more.

Red sails in the sunset,
Far out on the sea.
Oh, carry my loved one
Home safely to me.

McTag, you give them all a big hug from Letty. (((hugs)))

edgar, that song reminds me of another that goes something like.."why was I born; why am I living..."

and just to share with our listeners a bit about Mrs. McTag, she looks even younger and lovlier than the last gathering. Hope your nipper does well in his thespian performance, taggers.

Stick around, listeners. We have it all here on WA2K radio.

edgar, is that Japanese? There is a song that I love whose title means "I am so sorry", but I have no idea how to spell that in Japanese, so naturally, I can't find it.

It was Japanese. Coincidentally, my service in the Navy took me to Japan at the same time it was a hit.

Ah, me listeners. All I know in Japanese is torah! torah! torah! <smile>

isn't it amazing, folks? We only know what we see and what we think, but most of all, it's what we imagine that is that secret room behind the sliding panel.

Aaah. Edgar reminded me of a song my cousin (who was in the Marine Corps. in WWII) sang to me, "Sakura" (Cherry Blossoms). I can hear the melody as clearly as if he were here. But, I can't find it on the net and I can't get beyond the first two words "Sakura Sakura". It was featured in a movie at one time. I can't remember the name of the movie either. So what can I remember?

I remember:

Sayonara, Japanese goodbye
Whisper sayonara, lover don't you cry
[Sayonara, if it must be so
Whisper sayonara, smiling as we go]

No more we stop to see pretty cherry blossoms
No more we 'neath the tree looking at the sky

Sayonara, sayonara
Goodbye

Great Irving Berlin Japanese song Laughing (featured in the movie of the same name based on Michener's novel starring Marlon Brando).

As recorded by Harry Belafonte

Sakura sakura
Yayoi no sora wa
Miwatasu kagiri
Kasumi ka kumo ka
Nioi zo izuru
Izaya izaya
Mi ni yu kan
Saita sakura
Mina mi te modoro
Yoshino wa sakura
Tatsuta wa momiji
Karasaki no matsu
Tokiwa tokiwa
Iza yukan
English lyrics:

Sakura, sakura,
Tender blossom born of spring
Sired by winter's gentle snow
Once again you bless my eyes
Would love thus return to me
Sakura, sakura, Would love thus return to me
