Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, loved Tobacco Road byEric Burton of The Animals.

Sent me searching again, Texas. Erskine Caldwell wrote both Tobacco Road and God's Little Acre. UhOh. Didn't set too well with the Southerners. I'll let our listeners check out God's Little Acre.

Well, Barry the Brit has done some great stuff today. Dee Dee Bridgewater's With My Friends was awesome, and Afro Blue another great one. Love those vibraphones, London. Cavan Potholes was amazing. Ah, The Irish and the Japanese. Great combination and great music.

Speaking of vibraphones, here's one by a modern jazz quartet and their tribute to Django.

I love Erskine Caldwell's books, letty. He lived the life of a southerner before writing about it.

@edgarblythe,
That one by Smiley was hilarious, edgar, but I think I heard it by someone else.

Yep, there was poor white trash and then my older sister told me the black kids called her generation poor white sagers. More about that later, as I'll have to check with her. today is Tom T. Hall's birthday, so here is a group of songs by him.

@edgarblythe,
That's what I like about the South, too, edgar. Love that one by Phil! Didn't you tell me that he did the original Preacher and the Bear?

It's Leslie Uggams' birthday and although I know the name, I don't recall having heard her sing. she is good, y'all.

I don't know if Phil had the first version of Preacher and the Bear, but he did record it. I have also a version of it by Leadbelly.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, that is one (of many) that I don't understand by Leonard; he is still a genius, but I still prefer Suzanne. Thanks, buddy for the dates in history because here is another genius.

I remember reading The Happy Prince when I was a kid, and just discovered that it still makes me cry. Most of you may know that beautiful story of the prince of gold and the dear swallow.

The ending, folks.

God told one of his angels to bring him the most precious things in the city, and the angels took Him the dead bird and the leaden heart, so God said: you have rightly chosen; in my garden of paradise this little bird shall sing forever, and in my city of gold the Happy Prince shall praise me.

Like Cindy oh Cindy, edgar. Eddie Fisher was a great singer, no? What a situation he became involved in, however.

This is for all the father's out there.

If I fail to listen to Eddy for a time, I tend to forget what a fine voice he had. Papa is the first song I recall hearing by him.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I had no idea that the Ames Brothers did that German goodbye song. It was great, and Hank Locklin's Send Me the Pillow brings back memories of my country cousins. Thanks, Texas.

My goodnight song, y'all.

Came across this one by accident.

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K peeps.Starting at the Odd News Desk....

Elephant caught drinking Jacuzzi dry.

Tuesday, May 25 2010, 16:54 BST
An elephant has been spotted drinking the water from a Jacuzzi which was previously thought to have sprung a mystery leak.

According to The Sun, staff at South Africa's Etali Safari Park could not work out why the water kept going missing from a hot tub.

An elephant named Troublesome was later seen with its trunk dipped in the Jacuzzi consuming its full 200-litre water content.

Owner Susan Potgieter said: "When I first saw the photograph of her drinking I couldn't believe it.

"It was something of a relief because we had been trying to work out why the pool had been draining so quickly for weeks, but couldn't find a leak anywhere. Our plumbers could not work out why it was draining either."

She added: "Now that we know what was going on we have tried to provide her an alternative source of water. But it's hard to get an elephant to change her ways.

"She is a very welcome visitor for us and our guests, but it's probably best to check if she is around before taking a dip in the Jacuzzi."

I love Jumbos.In Kenya,at Treetops,I was 50ft away from a herd of around 30.A bl^^*y amazing!!!!
