edgar, Wow! Them Dixie Chicks were sad. Liked You Were Mine. More unrequited love.

Hey, Brit. Just like The Beach Boys (inspired by The Freshmen, ya know) I'm keeping an eye on summer. Supposed to be 93 degrees today. I like them, incidentally.

Two songs about strangers Thanks for the inspiration, London.

First Nancy.

Now, Mr. Aker Bilk.

Many folks claim that truth is stranger than fiction, but I claim that fiction is the only way you can tell the truth and not get sued.

@dyslexia,
Love that one by Cohen. I've been searching for the meaning behind those lyrics, cowboy. Just found out the man was a Canuck!

Well, folks, edgar, dys, and I have discussed the fact that all three were jews, so here is one about another stranger.

My Sunday song.

Nancy Wilson never seems to change. Acker Bilk's record still sounds as good as the day he recorded it.

@edgarblythe,
Love that song, edgar. You sent me searching again and here are the English lyrics.

Thank you, God,
Look at all that nature has brought us.
Thank you, God,
Look how misery has ended for us.
The rain has fallen,
The corn has grown,
All the children that were hungry are going to eat.
Let's dance the Congo,
Let's dance the Petro,
God said in Heaven
That misery has ended for us.

Ah, missed our Izzie's announcement. You and the Fredster and the Brit will make a great trio. Yep, you do get around and so does Hot Chili Peppers' version of the boys of the beach.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think I shall do so with two songs. First, one for sboy since he's doing the jazz bit. Don't let him bungle in the jungle, however.

Now another strange song, y'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awi14wDTxNw

From Letty with love who might as well be in the jungle. It's hot here.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, didn't know Traveling Wilbury's Handle With Care, but I enjoyed listening, Texas.

Hey, Brit. I knew two of your songs. The adaptation of James Brown's Payback and Marvin, of course. Thanks, London. My, my. Didn't know there was a Union Day, however. Love to learn here on our cyber radio.

Two songs for the morning. First, inspired by my daughter's photo of the early morning sunrise here, I decided to play this one.

And since today is Pete Seeger's birthday, (He's still with us) One that I love, y'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5JLCAIJLJ8

Translation in English.

I am a truthful man
From where the palm tree grows
And before dying I want
To let out the verses of my soul

My verse is light green
And it is flaming red
My verse is a wounded stag
Who seeks refuge on the mountain

I grow a white rose
In July just as in January
For the honest friend
Who gives me his open hand

With the poor people of the earth
I want to cast my lot
The brook of the mountains
Gives me more pleasure than the sea

@edgarblythe,
That one by Pete is very moving, edgar. Yep, Pete, I think many of us have overcome in our own special way.

Today is Christopher Cross's birthday. Never saw the movie with Dudley Moore, but this song I really like.

@edgarblythe,
Hmmm. That's a very unusual version of I Ride an Old Paint. I believe that I like the song with someone singin' it, Texas. Had to go to the archives to find one.

Jes notified us that Lynn Redgrave had died. She did the movie Georgy Girl. Didn't see that one either, but I like the theme from it.

Here it is by The Seekers, y'all.
