@edgarblythe,
edgar, I never realized what a great looking kid Buddy was, and the tribute was wonderful, Texas.

I was trying to find a suitable tribute to John Barrymore (the great profile) since today is his birthday; alas, all the music behind the video was terrible. I did, however, see that he played Rasputin in one of the Romanov's old movies. Since I have been fascinated with them ever since I read The Massey's book, I think I shall do a memory of the last ruling monarchy of Russia.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks edgar. Unfortunately, that classical music behind the video will be stuck in my head for a long time.

Wow! that song by Boy Dylan was GREAT! Wonder who the female was that occasionally chimed in? Never heard that one. The "Jester" continually amazes me.

Tried to find "Java Jive" to go with your coffee song. No luck. That's one of my favs from the Mills Bros.

This one isn't bad by them, however.

The first solo bit was fantastic.

I bought some Mills Brothers albums, some years ago. I like most of their songs. Stardust is one of my favorites, needless to say.
My computer has begun to freeze on me. I need to find a way to keep it from crashing.

I'm just one of many
Gave a love in vain
Sold it out for pennies
Saved up all my reign (rain)

What do you want from me
The ocean or the sea
The salt inside the rising tide
Tears you got from me
Got from me
Got from me, yeah

One day I'll be ready
To take what could be mine
Everything I'd buried
I lay out on the line

What you want to see
The truth or mystery
A blinding light, a blackest night
They're both inside of me
Inside me
Inside me, yeah

I'm just one of many
Took a love in vain
Sold it out for pennies
Saved up all my reign (rain)

What you want from me
The truth or mystery
The salt inside the rising tide
Tears you got from me
Got from me
Got from me, yeah

I don't want to be forgiven
All I want is to be free
I know I'll never be forgiven
I know I'll never be free

edgar, I loved Misty Roses by Bobby. The latin beat was great as well. Hope things work out for you and your equipment, buddy.

dj, welcome back. Your PD and everyone else has missed you, Canada.

Loved that one by Echo and The Bunnymen. It inspired me to do more research on that group.

So, I'm saying goodnight with two songs, one by another Canuck, and the other by dj's group.

First, Hank Snow the "singing ranger"

Now, another Echo from those Bunnymen.

Hope Barry the Brit is all right.

Goodnight, all.

@Letty,
Echo and The Bunnymen did this cover of a Doors song for the movie The Lost Boys, the song and some of the Bunnymen's albums were produced by Ray Manzereck from The Doors

@Barry The Mod,
pancake day? I love it!

Although if forced to chose between pancakes and King cake, jambalaya, and etouffee, I'd have to choose southern.

Happy Pancake Day to all the Brits!

It's Mardi Gras Day!!!!

dj, I love When You're a Stranger. Did NOT know the bunnymen did that one. I was surprised to find out The Doors did it, Canada.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. As JPB noted, that's a great song. Thanks.

UhOh, JPB. Now I'll have that old Mardi Gras song stuck in my head. Thanks for that mambo, gal.

"I heard them sing; come to the Mardi Gras"

Stayed up half the night watching Olivia de Haviland on TCM doing The Snake Pit and The Heiress. She is the last surviving star of Gone With the Wind. WOW!

Also found out that Drothea Dix did so much to improve the condition of mental institutions in America.

Here is Dvorak's classical piece from The Snake Pit, y'all.

Hope our edgar got everything fixed and will be back with us.

Good morning, all.

Thanks to JPB and Joe from the Windy City, I found out that the classical piece behind the Romanov's memory was this one.

Thanks, Chicagoians.

Also located Come to the Mardi Gras by another guy. Tried to find the one by Anacani, but it was removed from YouTube.

Here is Edmondo Ross. He's still with us as well.

I lost count of how many languages Harry Belafonte has recorded in. He is what I call an International Folksinger.
I am not opening a lot of youtube videos today. Don't want anybody to feel slighted. It will be a few days before I am able to get something done with my computer.

You can't write a novel from a briefcase
You can write a poem from a trench
You can dream a dream from A to B
But you can't catch a bus from a bench

You don't back a horse called Striding Snail
You don't name your boat Titanic II
So why when I see your happy smiling face
Do I always end up singing Little Blue

Little Blue, how do you do
Your smile looks like heaven
but your eyes hold a storm about to brew
Little Blue
How can a flower so pretty
be so laden down with dew
Little Blue

How can a flower so beautiful
be so laden down with dew
Little Blue

You can't build a brewery on a cemetery
You can build a pub on a church
And people fall quicker than buildings do
You have to decide what comes first

You don't call a plane the Flying Roman
'Cause the Romans always walked and never flew
So why when I see your happy smiling face
Do I always end up singing Little Blue

Little Blue, how do you do
Your smile looks like heaven
but your eyes hold a storm about to brew
Little Blue
How can a flower so pretty
be so laden down with dew
Little Blue

Well Bukowski wrote a story from a barstool
And Keats from the top of a hill
So I'm going to save my special song for you
From a grave where it's quiet and it's chill

'Cause there's a queue of clouds assembled
On the horizon of your smile
When most think that you're holding back
I know you're holding bile

Little Blue, how do you do
Your smile looks like heaven
but your eyes hold a storm about to brew
Little Blue
How can a flower so pretty
be so laden down with dew
Little Blue

How can a flower so beautiful
be so laden down with dew
Little Blue
