@Letty,
I loved, loved, loved this movie. In fact, I think I'll pull it out and watch it later.

edgar, I can identify with Bobby on that one. Love him, of course.

Hey, miss squirrel. Didn't see that movie, but it looks funny. Thanks for the trailer, and welcome back.

Here's one by The Brothers, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I listened to that eerie but amazing song twice. I like it, and you sent me to the archives again, Texas. Her name is Sarah Worden, right. What a fabulous intertwining of instruments. What a range that gal has. WOW!

Here's another birthday boy that is new to me as well, y'all. A Bob Dylan fan, obviously.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKHFWpaTUmY&feature=related

He also had a part in Werewolves of London.

That's a song Bob composed and recorded for the movie, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I had no idea that Bob was in that movie. He sounds great, Texas.

Going to say goodnight a little early, y'all, and since edgar sent me to the archives once again, here are two songs that are perfect.

First, the final theme from Pat and Billy.

Now night music that is soooo calming.

Haven't listened to the Young Rascals in a while.

The Secret Garden IS very calming, after the football game went all wrong.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K folks

edgar, I love that song Groovin'. Didn't know that the group was called Rascals, however. Also recall Mustang Sally. Thanks, Texas.

Let's begin out day with a couple of classics. First, Robert Burns since it is his birthday.

Now, one by another tragic but fantastic composer, y'all.

None but the Lonely Heart.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again, Texas, for the acknowledgement. It is always nice to have input about the songs that we play on WA2K.

Hard to believe that Chuck is still with us, edgar. Don't know that one, but I recall Maybelline.

Another Aha moment, y'all. Inspired by the picture connection, and the "rain in Spain", I thought of this one that I'm going to play. I know Diana didn't do it originally, but I'll bet you will know, edgar.

@Letty,
Beautiful Tchaikovsky, Mill L. Simply lovely.

I've been all aglow since the Saints won the NFC championship game last night. I read this story about Harry Connick Jr delayed start to his performance last night and thought I would share it along with one of his tunes.

Here Comes the Big Parade
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlO5o6IsmkM&feature=channel

Quote:
It was a packed house at the Showroom Theater at Pechanga Resort & Casino as fans waited patiently for Harry Connick, Jr. to take the stage.

A full 20 minutes behind schedule, the curious crowd soon had its answer for the late start. As cheers erupted backstage, an understanding rippled through the theater, aisle by aisle. Within a minute, the house lights went down and the curtain came up and Harry Connick, Jr. bounded onto the stage, climbed on top of the grand piano and raised his arms in victory.

And then everyone knew. Connick’s beloved New Orleans Saints had beaten the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC conference title.

“We’re going to the Super Bowl, y’all,” Connick said, as the audience cheered. “I’m so happy, I feel like I wanna kiss somebody.”

And he did. He hopped right off the stage, into the audience and planted a big one on some lucky girl in the front row.

Might as well hear one about the saints, y'all.

@Letty,
Danny Kaye!!!!! I haven't listened to him in years.

I like him with Louis. Here they are again with a wide cast of jazz and gospel greats:
Lionel Hampton, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman,Golden Gate Quartet, Tommy Dorsey, Mel Powell, Louis Bellson, Charlie Barnett...

@JPB,
A Song Was Born was awesome, JPB. Never saw that movie, but I loved the combination. Believe it or not, I learned about Danny Kaye from my older sister and Negro spirituals from my mamma. Thanks for that one Miss squirrel. I need to contact my big sis and send that one to her.

Bud was my jazz mentor, so most of them I learned from him.

Sing, Sing, Sing is perfect for our wee cyber station. Lionel Hamptom was one of my favs. He sang Cute, and I didn't know there were lyrics to that one.

I guess my dad must have left me with some WWI songs, and my brother, Bill pop ballads of the era.

Well, we know about how jazz and dixieland came about, how about the birth of the blues with Matt.

@JPB,
Isn't Matt marvelous, JPB? Learned about him from a guy who was in the signal corps. My brother was as well. Musicians were a natural for that branch of the army.

I also recall, Bud telling me that Lady Day and Trummy Young suitcased from a hotel (skip out without paying) and I became curious (as usual).

My goodnight song will be by the two of them.
