@Letty,

I have never seen it so cold here.

Pulling the plug with a Brit folk singer- Kate Rusby....

Kate Rusby Poor Old Horse Lyrics:
We’ve got a poor old horse,
He’s standing at your door,
And if you’ll only let him in,
He’ll greet you all I’m sure,
He’ll greet you all I’m sure.

He’ll greet you all I’m sure,
He’ll greet you all I’m sure.

Now that He’s grown old
And nature doth decay,
My master frowns upon him now,
These words I’ve heard him say,
These words I’ve heard him say.

These words I’ve heard him say,
These words I’ve heard him say.

Now that he’s grown old
And scarcely can he crawl,
He’s forced to eat the coarsest grass,
That grows against the wall,
That grows against the wall.

That grows against the wall,
It grows against the wall.

This poor horse was once young,
And in his youthful prime,
My master used to ride on him,
He thought him very fine,
He thought him very fine.

He thought him very fine,
He thought him very fine.

[Repeat first verse]

@Barry The Mod,
Thanks, Brit. Never heard Kate Rusby before, but I liked Poor Old Horse.

Today is Elvis Presley's birthday, so here is a tribute to him, y'all. (miss you stray cat)

@Letty,
THe Texas alamo music reminded me somewhat of the music from Titanic. The flute music is also good. I read something about those iguanas. Thought it was a joke. And the David Bowie tribute was interesting.

Here is Elvis with one of my favorites by him. It appeared on the Elvis is Back album.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, never heard that one by The King. Poor guy. He deserves a tribute. Incidentally, some guy went around picking up the frozen iguanas and when they got warm in his car, they jumped all over him almost causing him to wreck.

Today is Jose Ferrer's birthday, and this is by far the better of the two Moulin Rouges, folks

I didn't see that film, letty, but I have been a Jose fan ever since I first saw him play Cyrano.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, yes, edgar. Cyrano was required reading in undergrad school. The eternal triangle-- Roxanne, Christian, and Jose.

Today is also Shirley Bassey's birthday. What a voice, y'all.

Goldfinger is the song I associate with Shirley. She has a great voice.
I want to hear me some Etta James today.

@edgarblythe,
Love Etta James, edgar. Stormy Weather has been done by many, but Etta was fantastic.

Today is Ron Moody's birthday, and he was the original Fagin in Oliver. Here is an unpdated version of Charles Dickens' classic.

Don Gibson

Oliver Twist was long my favorite book. I read it about three times between my 14th and 16th birthdays. Then watched the various films.

Thanks rock, for that song. Hi, jpb.

Rock, great song about the fortune teller.

edgar, I know Don Gibson. Like the one you played by him, but remember him best for Lonesome Me.

JPB, Light it on Fire was great. Thanks. Really like John Boutte's voice. Also liked Monday Night Between friends.

Here's one to match Fortune Teller. (great visuals, incidentally)

sing it Diamond man.

Hello alex.
The Coasters are among my favorite early rock acts. They must have over a dozen records I like.

It's hard to find the original Coasters' hits on youtube. Most are rerecordings, often by folks who claim to be Coasters but never met the original guys. There are lots of bogus early rock groups out there. The Costers were originally the Robbins. Smokey Joe's Cafe was one record they made using that name. I also read that the Inkspots had the same problem. In their time, few knew exactly what they looked like. The article claimed there were as many as 50 groups at a time performing as the original Ink Spots.
