I've liked some of Mel's films. Recently saw Apocolyptico. It had me on the edge of my seat, all the way to the point where the central character's life was spared by a coincidence ( eclipse). From then on, I relaxed, knowing that he would survive it all.
Paul's song was appropriate.

@Letty,
Happy Birthday to Mel (although I'm not a big fan)

Mac Davis, Bobby Goldsboro and Glenn Campbell were all popular around the same time. They had variety TV shows (some summer replacement, some regular season) back in the day when variety shows were popular.

Here's one by Bobby

@JPB,
Ah, JPB, you always send me to the archives. Bobby did that sad song about Honey. Didn't know the one that you played, but it was lovely, especially with the visuals of water. Thanks.

Always loved Glen Campbell, and this is one of my favorites. Thought for the longest time that Ticomaya lived in Kansas, but found out differently.

@Don1,
My word, Don Juan, Nice to see you back. I recall hearing Tony Blair's wife sing this one and thinking how awful she was.

Yep, the format has changed, Brit.

Grandfather's Clock seems somehow appropriate after that Beatles song.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, when I was in middle school, we used to have a trio that sang that one in conjunction with this

First the instrumental; then the lyrics, y'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC6fPd0-_xw

Time on my hands, you in my arms
Nothing but love in view
Then if you fall, once and for all
I'll see my dreams come true

Moments to spare
With someone you care tor
One love affair for two

And so with time on my hands
And you in my arms
And love in my heart all for you

@edgarblythe,
Grandfather's clock was one of the songs we sang on car trips! I haven't heard it in years. Actually, I never heard a recording of it. Nice...

Time on My Hands is new to me too. Very pretty.

edgar, never heard that one by Green Day. Thanks for the introduction, Texas.

JPB, it sure beats singing Coming Round the Mountain.

Looks like this is discovery day on WA2K.

Never heard of Big Tom, but I like his song, y'all.

Mairzy Oats? Love that one JPB, and I also know Wouldn't it Be Loverly. Thanks, miss squirrel.

Well, folks, didn't exactly sing this one riding in a car, but it's an answer to Big Tom. (still love this guy's sausage)

Big Tom and Big John - I liked the first, loved the second.
My Fair Lady is my favorite musical film. I think they made a mistake who voiced the songs for Audrey on the video, however.

I copied the following from Wikipedia:
An Oscar-winning film version was made in 1964 directed by George Cukor and with Harrison again in the part of Higgins. Controversy surrounded the casting of Audrey Hepburn instead of Julie Andrews for the part of Eliza " partly because theatregoers regarded Andrews as perfect for the part and partly because Hepburn's singing voice had to be dubbed. (Marni Nixon sang all songs except "Just you wait", where Hepburn's voice was left undubbed during the harsh-toned chorus of the song but Nixon sang the melodic bridge section.) Meanwhile, Andrews won 1964's Oscar for Best Actress in Mary Poppins.

@edgarblythe,
Yes, edgar, My Fair Lady is a fantastic musical. I know about Julia Andrews being upset over not being selected to do Audrey's role. She did make a hit in The Sound of Music as well, buddy.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I know that we all know this one, Texas. Somehow, it's stuck in my head that the first verse is related to some other thing that I have wondered about for years.

@Letty,
The soundtrack from My Fair Lady was a regular on our turntable at home.

Mario Lanza has an incredible voice, Miss Letty. I enjoyed that one. Sleep well.

Here's one for your Monday morning...

Nelson Eddy was before my time but he was one of my mother's favorites.

I love Mario's records, especially that song. Also like Nelson Eddy.
I'm saying good night and dedicating this song to my brother, Sam, for the memory it brings.
