I enjoy Shirley Bassey's voice, and Kiefer Sutherland is a fair actor. Happy bday, boy.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, you played the right song by Conway. My daughter just told me it was flooding in Georgia. Can't find out the details, however. Love that song, incidentally.

Here's a rain song by Led Zepplin.

A snowy song for you:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJMhvGLnx8o&feature=related

Lyrics by poet Archibald Lampman (1861-1899)
Music by Loreena McKennitt

SNOW
Lampman, Archibald (1861-1899)

White are the far-off plains, and white
The fading forests grow;
The wind dies out along the height,
And denser still the snow,
A gathering weight on roof and tree,
Falls down scarce audibly.

The road before me smoothes and fills
Apace, and all about
The fences dwindle, and the hills
Are blotted slowly out;
The naked trees loom spectrally
Into the dim white sky.

The meadows and far-sheeted streams
Lie still without a sound;
Like some soft minister of dreams
The snow-fall hoods me round;
In wood and water, earth and air,
A silence everywhere.

Save when at lonely intervals
Some farmer's sleigh urged on,
With rustling runners and sharp bells,
Swings by me and is gone;
Or from the empty waste I hear
A sound remote and clear;

The barking of a dog, or call
To cattle, sharply pealed,
Borne echoing from some wayside stall
Or barnyard far afield;
Then all is silent, and the snow
Falls, settling soft and slow.

The evening deepens, and the gray
Folds closer earth and sky;
The world seems shrouded far away;
Its noises sleep, and I,
As secret as yon buried stream,
Plod dumbly on, and dream.

edgar, that song by Buddy was so tender. "....the day the music died..."

Tai Chi, That was a fantastic poem set to music. What a great voice Loreena McKennit has. Thanks, baby face.

Another Mark Twain quote:

Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.

Well, folks. Down came the rain and melted all the snow.

I had no idea that Ronnie Milsap was blind.

@edgarblythe,
I think Izzie missed our tribute to Barry the Brit. Thanks for that hopeful song by Miranda, edgar.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with Celtic Woman.

Hold good thoughts for my daughter.

@Letty,
Raining sunshine? We can hope edgarb. Will think "dry" thoughts for your daughter, Letty.

I'm glad you liked Loreena McKennitt.

I'm enjoying the Celtic Woman just now before I head to bed.

(Saw Ronnie Milsap at a Casino near here a few years ago. It was an excellent concert. )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Message_to_Michael

Message to Michael

Spread your wings for New Orleans
Kentucky bluebird, fly away

And take a message to Michael, message to Michael
He sings each night in some cafe
In his search to find wealth and fame
I hear Michael has gone and changed his name

It's a year since he was here
Kentucky bluebird, fly away

And take a message to Michael, message to Michael
Tell him I miss him more each day
As his train pulled out down the track
Michael promised he'd soon be coming back

Oh tell him how my heart just breaks in two
Since he journeyed far
And even though his dreams of fame fell through
To me he will always be a star

Spread your wings for New Orleans
Kentucky bluebird, fly away

And take a message to Michael, message to Michael
Ask him to start for home today
When you find him please let him know
Rich or poor, I will always love him so

Fly away, Kentucky bluebird
Fly away, Kentucky bluebird
Fly away, fly away, fly away, fly away...

Burt Bacharach and Hal David

@Letty,
Hey Letty - oh I had missed it, so sorry, it was after midnite and I was in a haze... Rolling Eyes spoke to Barry around 12.45am and he'd enjoyed his night out - unfortunately....since then

Barry phoned me first thing this morning- his internet is out. Could be the weather in London has caused some problems or could be his router, but he's been told that it won't be fixed until 30th December. He's gutted and stamping his feet a little. He wished to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes - I shall be speaking to him later and can relay any messages to him if you have some. He's not a happy bunny!!!!!!!!!!!! He's thinking he may go out to the movies again tonite - other than that, a quiet day in for our Birthday Boy. He wanted to ensure everyone knew he wished he could be here, but it looks as tho he may be offline for a while.

Good Morning, WA2K folks.

Rex, Loved Take a Message to Michael. Thanks, Maine. Sad, but the Kentucky bluebird may have done so.

Izzie, the next time you talk to the modman, tell him that we miss him and that we'll anxiously await his return.

Today is Robin Gibb's birthday, so let's hear one by him and The BeeGees, y'all.

Will do MzLetty - will give him a ring later and let him know. Very Happy

Can't get this song out of my head at the moment...I keep hearing it from an advert and it's playing in my head.

however, the Wii microphones were just delivered - YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAY - Sboy and I are about to sing... I'm laughing already, I know how terrible we are going to sound but it's such a lot of fun. (not that I would do this is public - oh no no no...)

Happy Tuesday, y'all. I seem to have missed Barry's birthday but I'm a day early for Izzie's. Some things just balance out in their own way, I guess. Hugs to both, and to Miss Letty as well.

Today in Robin Gibb's birthday. Here's a mellowish song by him.
