@edgarblythe,
Never heard that one by Dolly and Kenny, edgar, but it was great. Yes, The Greastest Gift of All is often the simpliest one.

Today is Dionne Warwick's birthday and she is singing "Gone too Soon". So true, Dionne.

edgar, I don't know your artist, but I love O Holy Night. Thanks, buddy.

Urs, Welcome back. I think Slade has the right idea. We need to happy at Christmas time. Great group although I have never heard them. Much love to you and your Swede.

Well, folks, today is Frank Sinatra's birthday, and although his life was nothing to brag about, you cannot deny that fantastic voice of his.

Here are two for old blue eyes.

First a tribute.

Now one by the chairman of the board himself.

Sinatra's birthday, huh? He doesn't sound that old.
I bet Lou Rawls knows what Christmas is.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I love Lou as obviously you do. Especially liked that acoustic bass and guitar. He knows what Christmas is, for certain. The visuals made me feel warm and remembering a log burning in my fireplace with a decorated mantel and tree along side of it.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I shall do so with Celtic Woman.

This song is alternately cute and mildly depressing ... I can't ever compete against a dog ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_F5xyP6cuE
Quote:
It’s him or me
That’s what he said
But I can’t choose
Between a vegan and a pot head
So I chose you, because you’re sweet and you give me lots of lovin’ and you eat meat
And that’s how you became
My only man of the hour

You never lie
And you don’t cheat
And you don’t have any baggage tied to your forefeet
Do I deserve, to be the one, who will feed you breakfast, lunch, and dinner and take you to the park at dawn
Will you really be
My only man of the hour

I know you’ll never bring me flowers
Flowers they will only die
And though you’ll never take a shower together
I know you’ll never make me cry
You never argue
You don’t even talk
And I like the way you let me lead you when we go outside and walk
Will you really be
My only man of the hour?
My only man of the hour.
My only man of the hour.

Good morning WA2K folks.

edgar, I love Julio and I say Hey, back to that marvelous vocalist.

Ah, Louis and Keely. She pronounces "out" just as I do. Thanks Texas. How about "white magic".

Tsar, welcome to our cyber radio. My goodness, I can understand why Nora sticks with "woman's best friend". Love that one, but you are right, it is rather sad in a way.

Urs, Happy Saint Lucy Day. I love that song, and both played beautifully.

Here are the English lyrics, y'all.

Nightly, go heavy hearts
Round farm and steading
On earth, where sun departs,
shadows are spreading.
Then on our darkest night,
Comes with her shining light
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!
Then on our darkest night,
Comes with her shining light
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.

Night-darkling, huge and still.
Hark, something's stirring!
In all our silent rooms,
Wingbeats are whisp'ring!
Stands on our threshold there,
White clad, lights in her hair,
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!
Stands on our threshold there,
White clad, lights in her hair,
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!

Darkness shall fly away
Through earthly portals.
She brings such wonderful
words to us mortals!
Daylight, again renewed
will rise, all rosy-hued!
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!
Daylight, again renewed,
will rise, all rosy-hued.
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!

Santa Lucia sangen.

Saying "good morning" with Paul.

@Letty,
Letty...... I need a Band Aid - so here I go...

and snap.....me, that is

It's Christmastime
There's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime

But say a prayer

Pray for the other ones
At Christmastime it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging
chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you

And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
(Oooh) Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

(Here's to you) raise a glass for everyone
(Here's to them) underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

Feed the world
Feed the world

Feed the world

Let them know it's Christmastime again

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again

Christmas is coming, let them know...! Razz
Izzie

@Izzie,
Izzie, Feed the world was wonderful. I recognized a young Phil Collins and Boy George, but the others were unknown to me. Yes, Band Aid was a marvelous and realistic contribution to those in need.

Well, honey, if that's "little fellow" playing drums, you have a child prodigy on your hands.

How about a Christmas Tree, y'all.

We'll dedicate this to our German friends.

http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=8LcKKZucaig

With English lyrics...

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!

In beauty green will always grow
Through summer sun and winter snow.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!

I had no idea that I was headed to a Christmas concert when I left the house last night but Bela has a new Christmas cd out that was featured throughout the FANTASTIC two hour show.

The Alash Ensemble (Tibetan throat singers) came on stage at the end of that song. Here's one of their own traditional songs mixed with a Christmas song.

Here is an example of Dylan working on a song that never saw the light of day. The recorded part is not easy to follow or that well performed, but the words on the side panel (where you click more info) is pretty interesting, as are the visuals. Dylan painted some of the pictures that are shown.
