@edgarblythe,
If I could pick a vocalist that had all the great attributes of a good man and a fine singer it would be Perry, edgar. Love O Holy Night.

Here's one to match Perry's performance, y'all, and they sorta sound alike.

I agree with you on most of those Christmas/Santa songs, etc.

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. That "Fairytale of New York" was rather like a "Somebody done somebody wrong song." I do like The Pogues, however. Thanks, buddy.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a sleigh ride.

From Letty with love and a Christmas memory.

I have always loved Matt Monroe's voice. I also like that fairy tale song by the Pogues. Sleigh Ride by Andy Williams is one I like a lot.
If only every day could be like Christmas.

Good morning, WA2K.

edgar, Never heard that one by Elvis. Thanks, Texas.

Well, Brit, what's wrong with "nowers"? Ah, "The Velvet Fog". Fits London rather well and I always have enjoyed Mel.

A couple of songs for today, folks.

First, Prokofiev's Midnight Sleigh Ride"

@Letty,
I loved "Sleigh Ride", Miss L.

I picked my favorite Christmas carol as my new piano song.

O Come, O Come, Emanuel

@JPB,
JPB, I love that one. Your piano man does it a bit differently than I have heard it. I tried playing it on our studio piano in the key of C and quit one quarter of the way through.Thanks, Miss squirrel.

One of my favs from Handel, folks.

@Letty,
He plays it differently than I do too! Actually, he does his own arranging.

Here's another of my favorite carols - again, with a different arrangement than usual.

Midnight sleigh Ride is new to me.
Adam Sandler - That one seems to have become enshrined in the lexicon.
O Come O Come Emanuel - another new one for me.
Messiah - A truly great piece of music.

@Letty,
I wouldn't call those my favorites. They're much more pop culture favorites and I'm more of a traditionalist. I recall my mother once lamenting that she never heard "real" Christmas carols on the radio. Of course, she meant the ones she grew up with rather than the contemporary ones.

Here's one of the relatively "newer" Christmas songs from my childhood.

Silver Bells - Johnny Mathis

For me, the Johnny Mathis Christmas albums are overall the best there is - of pop singers.

Forgot to mention Mel Torme. Depending on the song, he is a great vocalist. The Christmas Song marks him as a great songwriter also.

JPB, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is a beautiful hymn. I was looking for the source and found that it was originally Methodist and has undergone lots of changes. Know what shape notes are?

Silver Bells by Johnny is lovely, too, as well as Loretta's Country Christmas.

That's what our cyber radio is all about, folks. Everything from classical to pop Christmas music, to country, to kids' favorites.

Here's one by a man who plays great guitar for a kid's song, y'all. He combines them all.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! That was one by Peggy Lee that I have never heard, edgar. What a strange arrangement. She was echoing herself. Wonder if that would be considered contrapuntal?

Here's a lady that I have never heard doing an old favorite carol.
