Today is Tatum O'Neal's birthday, and she won an academy award for best supporting actress in Paper Moon. What a sad life that girl had, folks.

My goodnight song will be a tribute to her.

As always,

From Letty with love

@edgarblythe,
Raunchy, edgar? I always thought that that mean ribald. Loved the song, however.

Good morning, WA2K radio folks.

A couple of songs to begin the day.

Todays is Glen Frey's birthday. He founded The Eagles.

Now one from Guns and Roses.

I have been following the massacre at Fort Hood, and I do believe a new report says that the shooter/shooters were NOT killed as thought.

@Letty,
Linda Ronstadt brought the Eagles together to be her back-up band. Watch a long haired Frey introduce her in this very high quality early video.

@panzade,
My goodness, panz, you have come through for us again. I had no idea that Linda brought the Eagles together. Thanks for the info.

Always loved Linda's jazz collection. Have the cd here somewhere.

Here's one by her called Heat Wave. (fits my little corner of the world although it is a bit cooler)

@Letty,
My windows are open! It's finally cooling down.

I love my collection of Ronstadt doing the "standards", although her voice isn't well suited for them. But Nelson Riddle's arranging and orchestration is mind boggling. He actually made a rock singer sound like a jazz diva!

@panzade,
Love that song, panz. Often think it was meant to be for me, buddy.

There was a movie by that same name. Remember it, folks?

Someone to Watch Over Me

This stylish, smart 1987 movie stars Tom Berenger as a New York cop and family man who falls for the rich and beautiful witness (Mimi Rogers) he's assigned to protect. Ridley Scott (Blade Runner) does something here he should be doing a lot more often: directing contemporary film noir with his eye for extraordinary art direction. Berenger and Rogers rise to the occasion, seemingly aware that they're making something special.

Don't forget to look and listen to Guns 'N Roses. It makes a statement for the world we live in.

One of my favorites by Linda, y'all.

Yo. I like Linda Ronstadt. I don't really listen to her that much these days, but I have some favorite albums of hers, beginning with Stone Poneys, I believe is the album name.

Sorry that I'm late to our radio party. Been doing tons of research.

Izzie, I'm with you on the "peaceful easy feeling". Love that one by the Eagles.

For a moment, hun, I thought that you meant Buddy Holly. Don't know those Hollies, but thanks for the introduction.

Dear me, and to think that I thought edgar's Jackson Browne was James Brown. Rolling Eyes

Love that one, Texas. He also did, Doctor My Eyes. Don't know your Baby Blues, however.

Where's the Brit and the Moose?

A couple of songs for the late afternoon.

First, since today is John Phillip Sousa's birthday, here's one by that band master.

Always Faithful

and another by The Eagles. Hard to take it easy, sometimes.

Incidentally, y'all Miss squirrel is okay, just involved.

@edgarblythe,
Browne=Eagles
I agree 100% edgar.

Thanks for the Hollies...great memories

That was a great movie with Berenger(who can forget him in Platoon) and introduced Mimi Rogers who I think was married to Tom Cruise at the time.

Someone To Watch Over Me was featured in a Richard Dreyfus movie Mr Holland's Opus(6 degrees of separation-we were just talking about Dreyfus...weren't we??

@Letty,
That Sousa brought back memories Letty. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth I played clarinet in a marching band. Our big number was Sousa's Semper Paratus

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rC9WxzBPKw

Very rousing.

(On my own time I listened, of course, to the Eagles.)
