My goodnight is with Earl Scruggs and Bob Dylan.

Najee and Skyline was a bit unusual - not bad.

Good morning, WA2K folks

edgar, that song by Scruggs and Dylan was fabulous. "I was born in East Virginia" reminded me of the varying accents there. I understand they are now fading, and that is such a shame. Love the dialects, and most were borrowed from the Brits.

Speaking of Brits, I would like to thank our Brit for Robbie Williams. What a voice, y'all.

Two songs for the morning. First, a birthday boy.

Now, the last song on Robbie's album, "Reality Killed the Video Star."

The song was written by Carole King

Good afternoon, edgar and panz.

edgar, I had to check out The Ames Bros., because I know that song.

The Ames Brothers were a singing quartet from Malden, Massachusetts, who were particularly famous in the 1950s for their traditional pop music hits.

The Ames Brothers got their beginning in Malden, where all four were born. The act consisted of brothers Joe (3 May 1921 " 22 December 2007), Gene (born 13 February 1923 " 4 April 1997), Vic (20 May 1925 " 23 January 1978) and Ed (born 9 July 1927).

Born into a non-professional but musically talented family, the boys were brought up on classical and operatic music. Their parents, David and Sarah Urick, were Russian Jewish immigrants from the Ukraine who read Shakespeare and semi-classics to their nine children from the time they were old enough to listen

However, I just recall one line. "Amapola, my pretty little poppy. "Thanks, Texas.

panz, I am flabbergasted (whatever that means). Carole King was fabulous, buddy, thanks for the femmine rendition.

Today is Art Garfunkle's birthday, and this one by him brings back some memories, y'all. Watership Down was written by the same author that did Girl in a Swing.

Hope our hebba is all right.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I listened to that song by Art twice. It was sad, somehow, but he did it so well.

Today is Vivien Leigh's birthday, folks, and I don't think that there is one person here that doesn't remember Gone With the Wind.

Here is a tribute to that wonderful but "gone too soon" actress.

Not the best quality, but full of memories.

Never knew Randy and Roy to get together. How about that? I like Roy, but was mainly a Hopalong Cassidy fan.

There was a Roy Rogers restaurant near a freeway in Houston. I ate something there once, but don't recall what it was. Somebody told me it was a piece of Bullet. I says, Well, at least it wasn't Nellie Bell.

Well, our edgar sent me to the archives again, folks.

Lupe Vélez in Laughing Boy (1934)
Born María Guadalupe Villalobos Vélez
July 18, 1908(1908-07-18)
San Luis Potosi, Mexico
Died December 13, 1944 (aged 36)
Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, U.S.
Other name(s) "Mexican Spitfire"
Occupation Actress
Years active 1927"1944
Spouse(s) Johnny Weismuller (1933"1939)

Lupe Vélez (July 18, 1908 " December 13, 1944) was a Mexican American film actress.

Vélez began her career in Mexico as a dancer, before moving to the U.S. where she worked in vaudeville. She was seen by Fanny Brice who promoted her, and Vélez soon entered films, making her first appearance in 1924. By the end of the decade she had progressed to leading roles and her vivacious personality helped establish her as one of the most popular actresses of her time. The advent of talking pictures allowed Vélez to excel in comedies, but she became disappointed with her film career, and moved to New York where she worked in Broadway productions.

Returning to Hollywood in 1939, she made a series of Mexican Spitfire comedies that utilized her volatile and explosive personality, and proved highly popular. She also made some films in Mexico. Vélez's personal life was often difficult; a five year marriage to Johnny Weismuller and a series of romances, were highly publicized. Vélez committed suicide in 1944; the contradictory reports surrounding her death have become part of Hollywood folklore.

She is regarded as one of the most notable Mexican movie stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and is often associated with the nicknames "The Mexican Spitfire" and "The Hot Pepper".

She was married to THE TARZAN?

Don't know this guy, but he was born today as well, and I like how he perfroms.
