Good morning, WA2K folks.

Rockymoose, Welcome back, buddy. Never heard Slip Slidin away by Paul, but I know what a mangy stray is like.

My word, I thought our Brit was off to Paris. Loved the Rodrigo song. The sound of a Spanish guitar is always nice and Nickel Creek was delightful. Thanks, buddy.

Foxy, I am always intrigued by women who enjoy sports. Went to a couple of football games at UVA. One was between Va. Tech and the Cavaliers. Forgot who won.

edgar, It's great of you to acknowledge each contribution. Thanks, Texas.

What a relief to know that our Urs is home again. "Gee it's good to be back home again." That one is by John Denver.

Today is Meatloaf's birthday. Never heard him, but when I noticed that he is on the Monk series, I became interested.

Another example of a man who ditched a woman. Shame on you.

Well, the dawn is breaking here, and I do hope that we get some rain.

@alex240101,
Thanks for the Robert Miles, Alex. Never heard him before. Would that be called "trance" music?

Two Out of Three, by Meatloaf, was my first introduction to his music. Liked him right away, but wished he had chosen a better stage name.
I was watching the early CBS news/magazine show, when they did a tribute to Kris Kristofferson. I didn't know he was a military instructor, until he met Johnny Cash. The meeting transformed him and he spent four years writing songs nobody wanted. Then Cash recorded Sunday Morning Coming Down, and, shortly after, Janis Joplin's Bobby McGee was released. His career then took off.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I've liked Kris for a long time but I'd never heard that song before --- thanks. It reminded me of Abraham, Martin, and John by Dion. I found another version by Moms Mabley.

@edgarblythe,
Interesting stuff, edgar.

It blows my mind that Johnny Cash at first turned down Kris's songs and Kristofferson was forced to resume his job as a janitor at a Nashville studio.

Thanks, Brit, for the song from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Loved that one by Meat Loaf.

Wow! edgar, that one was great by Kris. Didn't know that about him, Texas, and never heard "They Killed Him", but it's a great tribute. I thought for the longest time that Janis Joplin had written "Me and Bobby McGee".

Well, folks, I went back to bed this morning because I was awakened in the middle of the night by someone shooting fireworks. Frankly, I wasn't certain what the sound was right outside my bedroom window. Scary!

Here's another birthday boy, and another Canuck.

Randy Bachman, y'all.

I don't know many songs by Cristy Lane, but I like this one. Reminds me of Patty Page on it.

Love all the songs that you gals and guys have played.

Thanks, panz; Brit; squirrel for all the strange and the country. Know Bill Monroe. Need to check out his music, however.

JPB, Moms Mabley? Wasn't she the one who was always making us laugh with her remarks about her age? "old as water and twice as weak." what a talent.

edgar, George Strait has a fantastic voice. Love that song by him especially.

Wow! Anyone remember this kid? Today is his birthday. Here's a little info on him.

Shaun Cassidy (born September 27, 1958) is an American actor, singer, writer, and producer. He is the eldest son of Academy Award winning actress Shirley Jones, and the second son (his older half-brother is David Cassidy) of Tony award-winning actor Jack Cassidy. He is best known for his TV shows, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, Breaking Away, in which he acted; and American Gothic, Invasion and more recently the sitcom Ruby and the Rockits all of which he produced.

And a song or two by him, y'all.

Hope that I didn't miss anyone. It's been one of those days.
