This week is forecast to be very wet. We still need lots of it.
Good morning, all. Good music by Barry.
Bill Murray is the sort of actor, sometimes I enjoy his work, sometimes not.

@edgarblythe,
It's a pretty world today here as well, edgar, and IT'S RAINING. Thanks for that song, Texas. Never heard it, but it was good.

Today is Faith Hill's birthday, so here is one by her.

@Izzie,
Welcome back, Izzie. Thanks for the lovely view of the rocky beaches of England, and I have only experienced that once here. What a shock to walk across the dunes and see a beach filled with coquina rock. Liked the song by Eva as well.

Ah, the "colours" of autumn. Beautiful, hun, and Cass Elliot always does a nice job with "Dream a Little Dream".

Today is Leonard Cohen's birthday, and I have two songs as a tribute. First, the one that introduced me to the man.

Never heard of Tigercity, and this jury of one is still out on their performance.

Now this one, y'all.

Cohen lost the rights to Suzanne somehow. He wrote, paraphrasing, that his song now belongs to the world at large. He was on a ship in the Mediterranean and could hear across the water a crowd of people singing Suzanne one evening. My first experience with Leonard was just like my first experience with Dylan. Never had heard of each one. I spied their albums in a music store and on a hunch bought them. Bobby in 1964 and Lenny in 1968. I have done the same with other artists, such as Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin), Paul Butterfield's Blues Band, Phil Ochs, The Mothers of Invention ( Frank Zappa) and Judy Collins.

Thanks to all of you for the great songs.

Rock, loved Paul's spoof on Spies Like Us. Didn't see the original movie, however.

edgar, Your information on Leonard Cohen was quite insightful. Didn't know that he lost the rights to Suzzane. Doesn't bother him, does it.

Robert Channel's "Won't You be My Girl is neat. Know it, buddy, but don't know why.

Aha! The Hucklebuck was done by Chubby Checker. Guess that is why I know that one, Texas. Your Italian version was funny.

Today is H.G. Wells birthday, so here is a tribute to him and his time machine.

Hope that I didn't miss anyone. My daughter is in the emergency room and I'm a mite shaky.

Thanks for the birthday greetings a few days ago folks--Letty is so sweet for remembering. We were incognito (meaning we had no internet access) at Angel Fire NM. Soggy weekend - rain, even a few snowflakes which is quite early even up there, and quite chilly but a good time anyway. A true Rocky Mountain high and the fact that it was the New Mexico Rockies and not Colorado is a minor technicality:

HG Wells used to be a favorite with me. I haven't given him much thought in a long time. I was intrigued by his novel, "Kipps," which was adapted for the movies under the title "Half a Six Pence." It put me in mind of Dickens.

Thanks, dear foxyowl for John Denver's Rocky Mountain High, and thanks to Izzie for inspiring our WA2K folks to do a birthday song for you.

edgar, I read War of the Worlds by H.G. and if you'll notice google's pix, it's a tribute to the man.

I thought it might be the original King Kong that you watched, and Al Jolson's Top of the World was perfect.

Often, y'all, it is the original that is the best. When Orson Wells did his radio broadcast of that story, the entire world ran amok. That is why radio stations were required to give station breaks periodically.

Thanks also for Sinatra's Witchcraft and Jerry's Big Bad John.

The lesson behind the creatures' demise was the common cold. It killed them all because they didn't have the right stuff to fend off that virus.

Here's another song as a tribute to War of the Worlds. (hated the Tom Cruise remake)

Back later with my goodnight song.

The version I watched was the second remake. It was much more lavish than the other versions. The original is a masterpiece and I will not knock it. I have watched it several times. But this remake is very good in its own right.

@edgarblythe,
Love that Kenny Rogers song, edgar. Yes, it's the little things that really say "love".

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall so with this lovely instrumental, y'all.
