As for Ann Bancroft, I can see why she would prefer to be remembered for her other work. People will always have that unflattering image to draw upon. But if I were her, I would be proud to be associated with what is one of my favorite movies.

When I played this song for my first wife, she laughed at it. Nevertheless, it's a neat song.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, I have come to appreciate so many different songs. It started out with pop, cause that's what all the peer pressure was about; then jazz, and now I can see the value in all music whether I like it or not.

I like that one by Buddy. I even like this one by Hank, Sr.

Sang Hey Goodlookin on TV with the country DJ at the radio station in Virginia.

As a kid in Fresno, my Mom had the radio on a country station all day long. Her favorite artist was Hank Snow, but mine was Hank Williams. The DJ was Cottonseed Clark, then, later, Johnny Banks. Johnny didn't mind censoring songs for moral or racy content. He would not play Floyd Tilman doing Slippin Around, or Tommy Collins doing You Better Not Do That. But he got me going with a lot of great tunes, including this one:

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar, Hank Snow did that one as well. Rose's version was good, however. Thanks, Texas, and I hope you have had a good birthday.

Time for me to say goodnight, and this was done by John Williams prior to its becoming the theme for the movie Deer Hunter. That movie was one of the most powerful that I have ever seen.

It was a great bday, letty. Last year on this day, we had just experienced hurricane Ike and had no power and no water.

The story about this recording is, Jerry Lee's Mama kept playing a Chuck Berry record of the same song over and over. Annoyed, Jerry recorded this one and gave it to her to play instead.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, Jerry Lee and edgar. Little Queenie was great, but the reason behind Jerry's having recorded it was even better.

Hard to believe that autumn will soon be official, y'all. Let's listen to Nat talk about the leaves.

That is one of the best versions of Autumn Leaves out there, letty.
Moonlight in Vermont by Ray Charles is also mighty nice.

Wow, edgar, I love Moonlight in Vermont, and had no idea that Ray Charles did it.

Welcome back, panz. I'm certain that edgar will respond shortly.

Today is Greta Garbo's birthday. I think I read Dumas' Camille, so I checked the movie trailer to see if I recalled correctly. It was fantastic. Great cast, too.

Incidentally, Garbo said, "I vant to be LEFT along. She was very secretive about her life, and she may have been gay, but who cares.

I recall having seen the movie Garbo Talks, and that is why I became fascinated with that Swedish icon.

Here's a tribute to her.

Hey, Panz. Thank you.
Somehow, all of the elements did conspire to make it one of the best birthdays ever. Why? Because friends seemed genuinely to care. I would like to offer them each and every one a Lone Star Beer, but, thanks will have to suffice.
