@edgarblythe,
I looked up the lyrics, edgar. They're about Queen Victoria and the stiff necked Victorian era. Bet you understood the last bit, however.

One of my favorite Indiana Jones movies.

Today is BumbleBeeBoogie's birthday, and I think you once told me that this was the theme to The Green Hornet. Bees and hornets. Gotta watch them stingers, y'all.

edgar, I do recall that classic. Thanks, Texas. Razz Rimsky Korsakov also did the original Song of India which I have never been able to find in its entirety. Just the Johnny Mercer version.

Hey, Mooseman. That was hilarious by Cheech and Chong. Sister Mary Elephant? Those guys broke all the rules. Loved it, Kansas and thanks.

Anyone here remember Hogan's Heroes? Well, today is Bob Crane's birthday, and I was stunned to discover that the man was blugeoned to death in his apartment.

Robert Edward "Bob" Crane (July 13, 1928 " June 29, 1978) was an American disc jockey and Emmy Award-nominated actor, best known for his performance as Colonel Robert E. Hogan in the television sitcom Hogan's Heroes from 1965 to 1971, and for his violent and unsolved death.

Crane was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. He dropped out of high school in 1946 and became a drummer, performing with dance bands and a symphony orchestra. That same year he also enlisted in the Army Reserve, where he was assigned the job of a clerk and given an honorable discharge a few years later. In 1949, he married high school sweetheart Anne Terzian; they eventually had two children, Deborah Ann and Karen Leslie. Anne and Bob were briefly separated and living in different towns in the mid-1950s " after a few months they were reconciled and Anne soon afterward gave birth to their son, Robert David Crane. Bob later divorced Anne and married Patricia Olsen, an actress whose stage name was Sigrid Valdis. They had one son, Robert Scott Crane, and adopted a daughter, Ana Marie

Here's a memory of that production, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio.

edgar, I always remember my mamma when I hear Nelson Eddy. He was much better than I remembered.

Thanks for the Esther Phillips version of that Beatles song. I also listened to What a Difference a Day Makes. Loved that one, Texas.

Today is Linda Ronstadt's birthday, so how about a little Spanish music, folks.

What I like about Linda Ronstadt, she always looks to improve herself. She performs a very broad range of music.

Here is the original Walk on the Wild Side, from the movie starring Jane Fonda. It is a poor quality sound on this one. Sorry.

Hey, Brit. Love the jazz version of Walk on the Wild side by Jimmy Smith. Thanks for the introduction, buddy.

edgar, of course I really enjoyed Brook Benton's version as well. I think I saw that movie, but not certain. That is a very familiar version.

Well, y'all, dummy Letty has done it again; got ahead of myself this time. Tomorrow is Linda's birthday. Rolling Eyes

Hey, Mooseman. Thanks for The Travelin' song. That's for edgar's visit to New Mexico, methinks.

Let's see if your PD can make up for her mistake by a tribute to Woody Gutherie on his birthday.

@Letty,
Of course, I want to be the movie historian/critic and let me start with the new DVD of the Director's Cut of "Dark City," another film the studios tried to dumb down for fear of audience confusion. The director and Roger Ebert pointed out that is was meant to be ambiguous and confusing but there's always been little doubt about Shell Beach. Gone (like Blade Runner's first theatrical release) is the voice-over narrative and many scenes are expanded to further reveal the characters, even the aliens, and although the special feature of how it got made gets reduntive, it's a fascinating story of how a movie like "Dark City" gets to the screen. It's got the enigmatic mystery of "Donny Darko," the film noir atmoshphere of "Blade Runner" and the complexity of "The Matrix." So, "Sway" with Jeniffer Connelly:

Of course, click on the link if you wish, click the HQ button and full screen button for the best experience.
"Sleep now."

@Lightwizard,
You ARE the movie historian and critic, Mr. Wizard. The director's cut means that Jennifer Connelly's song, "Sway" was cut from the movie, Dark City. I did some research on that movie and Jonny Darko, and they both are really creepy. Have only seen Matrix, and I have forgotten that.

I do know that Dean Martin originally sang "Sway", however.

Thanks for inspiring us to do research, L.W.

I do remember Blade Runner. I'm not much on "end of the world" movies by aliens or others. Did find that Paul Desmond and Stan Getz did the jazz version of The Night Has a Thousand Eyes.

Well, folks, from the noir to the tribute. Today is Polly Bergen's birthday, so let's hear a tribute to that lady.
