@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar, I love that man, and his Rain Sometimes is fabulous. Would liked to have known him; either that or ridden on his bus.

This is legitimate, y'all?

Wow!

@djjd62,
dj, I love that song, and it serves a good purpose. Thanks, Canada.

Here's one about a Rainy Night in Rio, y'all. Let's look at The Lennon Sister today.

Bud called them "the lemon sisters".

Like the song, however.

@JPB,
JPB, Welcome back. Martha Reeves was fabulous. Love that kinda heat wave.

Your second song was breath taking, gal. Never heard the duo, but loved the way that lady played that violin and the entire performance was awesome.

I've been trying to locate this one, y'all, and finally found it. It's by The Duke and the vocalist is still alive, the only remaining member of Ellington's group.

From white to pink

About the vocalist.

This velvet-toned jazz baritone and sometime actor was (and perhaps still is) virtually unknown to white audiences. Yet, back in the late 1930s and early 1940s, Herb Jeffries was very big...in black-cast films. Today he is respected and remembered as a pioneer who broke down rusted-shut racial doors in Hollywood and ultimately displayed a positive image as a black actor on celluloid.

I remember Herb Jeffries, letty. I had an album by him at one time.

I think the sue Al Gore thing is a political stunt. I don't see how you can sue someone for researching something like that and then making their best report on it.

And the Lennon sisters have always been good to listen to, for me.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, "Little Miss Dynamite". I had forgotten her. Liked Weep No More my lady.

Thanks, edgar, for the input as well.

Well, y'all, weeping is water and now we're back to the climate.

Our poem for the day.

Robert Frost

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Remember this one from James Taylor?

I always considered Fire and Rain his best song, letty.

With global warming, the ice may be out.

@edgarblythe,
Heh, heh! Love that, edgar. Chubby idolized Fats, you know. Remember a guy who dropped in briefly to A2K whose screen name was Limbodog. We had such fun on the riddle concerning, What is grazed but never sown?

Hey, I won a limbo contest once. Did NOT fall, either.

Well, time for me to say goodnight, and I looked everywhere for Van Morrison's Moondance, but couldn't find it by him.

How about a rain song from Africa, then.

Good morning, WA2K folks

edgar, loved Sam Cooke's You Send Me. Thanks, Texas.

Mr. Moose. Always good to hear you on our cyber radio.

Had no idea that Van Morrison did that one, Kansas. Thanks, and that lovely Streams of Silver and Gold was sooooo calming. Nothing more appealing than native American flute with water, animals, and flowers. Great way to start the day.

Excerpt from a poem, y'all

For JOY is the WATER of which we drink,
ANGER the FIRE that burns within,
LOVE the very AIR we breathe,
And PAIN the EARTH from which we grow.

From Earth, Wind, and Fire. (notice the absence of water)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUJunsc-BA0&feature=related

And the guy who inspired them along with Billy Taylor.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64u6rKxayCU&feature=fvw

Notice that the RHYTHM of the falling rain is not featured.

So, you like Earth Wind and Fire? You would have enjoyed eating at my first mother in law's house. Laughing
But, seriously, folks, here is a song about a hero of the American west.

@edgarblythe,
Your first mother-in- law's kitchen was like earth, wind, and fire, edgar? Sounds like she was a pleasant lady. Razz

Loved your Gentleman Jim song, Texas, and here's one that was inspired by JLNobody.

What happens when you throw a bomb into a French kitchen?
Linoleum blown apart

So let's hear why he retreated, y'all.

Willie's got rhythm, too.
