Since I'm on Elaine Stritch, here's her Sondheim 75 Birthday celebration with another signature song:

Hey, Mr. Wizard. I have been doing some research on Elaine Stritch. Don't think I know her, but I most certainly know Sondheim. Thanks for the reminder, buddy.

edgar, that was a great song by The Fab Four. Never heard that one, but did Sir Paul have a front tooth missing? Laughing

Not familiar with your other birthday celeb either, but I most certainly know that song.

Well, y'all, edgar's song reminded me of another fabulous four; The Mills Brothers.

Here are two great songs by them, one of which is I know that Some Day, etc.

I have several Mills Brothers albums. It used to drive my oldest daughter crazy when I would be driving the family somewhere and play a tape of them singing "Daddy's Little Girl." She never did like most of my music.

@edgarblythe,
Strangely enough, edgar, my kids liked our music and I liked theirs.

Wow that song by "Sugarcane" was fantastic. I listened twice. Never heard of him, but he was a combo of jazz and blues. I had to learn more, and so I went to the archives and found this:

Beginning his career as the guitar playing half of the 1950s rock duo, Don & Dewey, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, put down the guitar and picked up the violin after the lack of success for Don & Dewey (oddly enough the group's songs became hits for other artists such as the Righteous Brothers and the Premiers). Classically trained as a violinist, Harris' skill at improvisation began attracting attention from the rock world and soon he was appearing on records by John Lee Hooker, Frank Zappa and Johnny Otis. In 1970 Harris joined forces with British blues musician John Mayall when the latter was forming his first all American backing band. In addition to joining the backing bands of Mayall, Zappa and others, Harris also recorded a series of albums for labels such as Epic and Polydor. After a lengthy battle with pulmonary disease, on December 1, 1999 he was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment at the age of 61.

Well, how about a little of the Doc.

Today is Doc Severison's birthday. Remember him? Met him on a gig once.

some of these samplers are funny, y'all.

Oops, missed the Brit. Hope all ends up as sound as Sondheim. Razz

@Letty,
I knew both Don and Dewey, Dewey and i celebrated together when he won a grammy for best album art. Both Don and Dewey played with John Mayall and the bluesbreakers on the US tours. Dewey lived in Denver and Don was in LA. Sometimes they would play in the jazz club on sunday nights at the Oxford Hotel in downtown Denver. the band "it's a beautiful day" recorded a tribute called "Don and Dewey".

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with this one that I heard on a very odd Cold Case the other night.

Incidentally, that was Glade Springs in West Virginia

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Dys, That was a very unusual song by Don and Dewey. I was especially interested in the blue violin man. I guess that is why they called it, "Blues in an Icebox." Thanks, cowboy, and the unknow fiddler was really good.

edgar, I really love the catman, and Peace Train is fantastic. Wonder why so many of the great performers adopted Islam? Thanks for the acknowledgments, buddy.

Strange, folks, Dancing in the Moonlight is one of those songs that I know, but don't know why I know it. Happens more and more frequently.

Today is Toby Keith's birthday, y'all, so here is an appropriate one by him. Obviously, Tobey doesn't agree with Willie.
