Hey, edgar. Thanks for the Louis and Keely song. She's from Norfolk, Virginia and is part cherokee and part Irish. Once again Nat Cole shows that he has more than talent. Great Spanish song by him as usual.

dys, that's a do, bro. Not a bad song and I searched for one from London, Kentucky, but it was too foggy there.

Well, Today is Marilyn Monroe's birthday, and this is an unusual tribute to two tragic figures. As noted, that isn't Elvis singing, but you could have fooled me.

Dobro is a trade name now owned by Gibson Guitar Corporation and used for a particular design of resonator guitar.
1928 Dobro style 37 tenor guitar from Lowell Levinger's collection

The name has a long and involved history, interwoven with that of the resonator guitar. Originally coined by the Dopyera brothers when they formed the Dobro Manufacturing Company, in time it came, in common language, to mean any resonator guitar, or specifically one with a single inverted resonator. This particular design was introduced by the Dopyeras' new company, in competition to the already patented tricone and biscuit designs owned and produced by the National String Instrument Corporation.

The Dobro brand later also appeared on other instruments, notably electric lap-steel guitars and solid-body electric guitars and on other resonator instruments such as Safari resonator mandolins.

When Gibson acquired the name in 1993, the company announced that it would defend its right to the Dobro's exclusive use.

You're sure it isn't a Steinway? I never heard of a Dobro.

You know, dys, I've been searching for the use of "dough" as money; also the doughboy of WWI. Doesn't seem to be a definite fix on it.

Hey, Texas. Love Willie doing On the Road Again. Still think of The Girl in the Blue Velvet Band by him, too. I knew that Sir Elton did Candle in the Wind, edgar. I just thought that one was different

Bud used to call money, bread. Must have something to do with the jazz boys.

Well, how about one by Bread, y'all.

Urs, I missed your song. It was really lovely, and I know the feeling. Often words just don't work. Just Hold Me Now is perfect for many situations. I tried to check out the movie, but guess what, gal.Couldn't understand the plot. Razz

edgar. We'll have to dedicate Sweet Home Chicago to our JPB. That was great.

Here's one to match.

Sweet Home Alabama. Yep. Know that one well. Donovan recorded Mad John's Escape long ago. But I recall it very well.

@edgarblythe,
Judge places Peter Falk in conservatorship.

Falk, 81, has advanced dementia, likely form an onset of Alzheimer's.

Shera, his wife of more than 30 years, will remain in charge of his personal care.

His daughter Catherine Falk filed a petition last year to take over her the TV detective affairs, igniting a war between the Falks.

The ruling allows Catherine a half hour visit with her father on alternate months.

He might not remember them though.

Falk doesn't always remember his own hit show any more nor the character that made him famous Columbo

Here he is with Shirley Jones and Dean Martin.

@edgarblythe,
Loved "....a gift from a flower to a garden..." Donovan is different, edgar. Mad, Mad John is different. Viva le difference, right?

So sad about Peter Falk. Ah, well, he had great days and I really enjoyed Colombo. I feel sorry for his wife.

Time for me to say goodnight, and this young woman does one of my favorite songs quite well, so it shall be my song for the evening. Irving Berlin and Johnny Mercer are a hard combo to be.

Goodnight, America; Germany; Canada and England.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, of all the Donovan songs that you have played, Little Boy in Corduroy is my very favorite. I could picture that child in my mind. Thanks, Texas.

Goodnight, Brit. My favorite by you was the John Legend one who just doesn't care.

A new discovery today, and I really like him. Here's Anthony Gomes, y'all.

Anthony Gomes (born in 1970) is a Canadian blues and blues-rock guitarist and singer. He was born in Toronto to a Portuguese father and a Canadian mother.
