Here is a tearjerker by George Jones. The one that put out the video somehow thought Elvis and Priscilla Presley fit the song:
He Stopped Loving Her Today

Thanks, guys for keeping up on the air.

Mr. Wizard, love that Sweet Dreams Are Made of This. Now I'm trying to figure out just what that strange computer like instrument that gal is playing.

edgar, music is not just for sighing, but for crying as well. Whatever the thought it's good to have. Your George Jones song, shows just how much it influences our emotions. Thanks for, "He Stopped Loving Her Today." I'm beginning to think it might not have been love to begin with.

Aha! that Kingston Trio song reminded me of The Wreck of the Old 97. Thanks, Texas. Always did love that trio.

Today is Peggy Lee's birthday, y'all. So let's do her signature song.

Didn't know it was Peggy's bday. I am a lifelong Peggy Lee fan. Fever is great. So is this one.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, yes. edgar. That is Peggy's epicurean philosophy.

Here's another fav of mine by Peggy. Love the way it ends, folks.

I love the way critics described his part in The Thing, folks: An intelligent carrot. Razz

A sad note, however. Amanda Blake died of AIDS

@edgarblythe,
Ya beat me on posting her final number one hit. Now, is that all there is?

Some radio stations banned that song, fearing it might trigger a wave of suicides.

My brother and I were buying Gunsmoke DVDs and trading them back and forth. We became fans of Gunsmoke back when William Conrad originated the role of Matt Dillon.

The last Peggy Lee song you presented was new to me, letty. But I love all of her music.

Peggy Lee spent many years fighting the Disney studio for what she considered her rightful cut of the profits from Lady and the Tramp. Here is a song from the movie. It's one of my favorite cartoon films.

@Letty,
Yeah. Also loved the lady playing the aunt. Verna Feldon, I think was her name. She was on TV a lot when I first started watching, back in 1954.

@edgarblythe,
Right, George Gershwin. A man is too. Porgy and Bess is great, edgar. Love "Bess You is My Woman Now". Great jazz tune, too.

Just to let y'all know that the god of thunder and rain is acting up again here. Sheeeeze.

Love this one by Miss Ella and the guy on acoustic guitar is fabulous. She is soooo good when she doesn't scat, right?

I know how everyone loves Ella. I don't dislike her, but I only listen if somebody else puts her music on. I guess indifferent is the operative word.

@Letty,
good evening all,

I was just listening to Haydn's "Surprise" symphony in advance of tomorrow night's CSO performance. The second movement is where the SURPRISE wake up takes place.

edgar, that's what I enjoy about our discussions on WA2K radio. You are honest about what you like and I am the same. If everyone agreed on the genre of music that we play here, it would become dull.

My God, did I just see Barry the Brit rush in and wooosh with Lady Day doing Love me or Leave me? Glad you don't have us on ignore, and I love that song by Billie.

Another surprise besides Haydn. The flying squirrel has treated us to a fantastic classical piece by the PaPa. Love it, JPB and welcome back. When I was a kid and first heard that, I jumped clean out of my potty chair. <big grin> I think that he did that to make the "sleepers awake."

Hey, the rain has subsided and I saw this lovely fellow in my back yard wading in the water.

Hmm, now where is that moose?

Here is one that I have looked for, and looked for, y'all. I cannot believe that I found it. Don't know why I know it, either.

I guess it's because it's Al's birthday

Had no idea that "the jazz singer" was born in Lithuania nor that Bob Dylan admired him, folks

Many contemporaries of Jolson said he was the greatest live performer of them all - that his recordings did not capture the man.

@edgarblythe,
Well, all. Time for me to say goodnight, and I just heard that the gov of Florida is asking for Federal aid declaring certain parts of our state a disaster area. I guess my little corner is a haven after all.

Before I play my retiring song. I thought our folks would like to see this about Al Jolson. (just wrote to my older sister asking her why I knew "And Mimi")

Al Jolson (May 26, 1886 " October 23, 1950), born in Lithuania, Russian Empire, was a highly acclaimed American singer, comedian, and actor, and, according to PBS, the "first openly Jewish man to become an entertainment star in America". His career lasted from 1911 until his death in 1950, during which time he was commonly dubbed "the world's greatest entertainer.” Numerous well-known singers were influenced by his music, including Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, and Bob Dylan, who once referred to him as "somebody whose life I can feel."

This one is lovely and quieting, and a wonderful song of goodnight.
