SWITCHING TO TALK RADIO!
My first trip to The States....landed at JFK....hopped on a Greyhound,going south,stopping off along the way....ended up 2 miles from W&W (is The Stuka still there? Scared the heck out of me!) Chilled for a few days then flew back to Heathrow.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, that oldie by Cher was a surprise to me. Just recalled something. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Jesus were all jews. Why in the world do I know "I'll Sail My Ship Alone"? I do, however.

Welcome back Rock, and I loved that Rod Stewart song. Thanks, Kansas. Hey, Brit, never saw that plane at Wet n Wild, and your version of Cool Water reminded me of fata morgana, another type mirage.

Hey, you can tell me all about your visit. Don't know if anyone is listening now or not.

Couple of songs this early morning, y'all. First, an unusual version of Fat Waller's Ain't Miss Behavin' (Today is his birthday). Then some more bird songs. Incidentally. Don't think Truman Capote ghost wrote Harper Lee's novel, but who knows.

First, Fats, and please note where this is being performed.

Now another bird song by Manhattan Transfer.

Love it when we have music from around the world.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again.
When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums,
there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes.

Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me?

Then join in the fight that will give you the right to be free.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the songs of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart, echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes

Will you give all you can give, so that our banner may advance?
Some will fall and some will live,
will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of France.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the songs of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart, echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes

takes my breath away.....................<sigh>

I like the Manhattan Transfer song, Chanson D'Mour, but I really like Ain't Misbehavin.

Here is a song I found by chance, featuring, among many others, Boy George.

@Izzie,
Do you hear the people sing
Lost in the valley of the night
It is the music of a people
Who are climbing to the light
For the wretched of the earth
There is a flame that never dies
Even the darkest night will end
And the sun will rise.
They will live again in freedom
In the garden of the Lord
They will walk behind the plough-share
They will put away the sword
The chain will be broken
And all men will have their reward!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!
Tomorrow comes!
Tomorrow comes!

@edgarblythe,
Google search lead me to that one at it's on the list at You Tube of versions of the song, but the original title apparently is "Does the Spearmint..." When it was recycled in the 50's, it became a number one hit but the version I finally posted may not be the artist(s) (I'm sure that can be found with Google).

Goodnight, Brit. Hope you awaken refreshed and ready to tell us about your trip to New York.

My, my. Our Izzie really likes Les Miserables, folks.

Seems to be clearing a bit here, and for the first time in a long time, I heard the song of a bullfrog. I named him, Jeremiah.

edgar, that song by Boy George was dear. Thanks for reminding us of him, Texas.

How about some nice and easy listening jazz, y'all.

@Lightwizard,
It was a hit by Lonnie Donegan and the Skiffle Group in 1958, so the YouTube is a more recent reprise, I'm guessing at a concert. The original was from 1924. If you can't find it, I'll repost.

@Lightwizard,
That's fine, LW. I watched the original post before you changed it. I recall Lonnie Donnegan making a hit of Chewing Gum. For about a week, I'd run to change the station each time it was played. Since then,I've come to accept it and will listen contentedly. Donnegan is a talented artist, with lots of good music in his grab bag of goodies.
