@edgarblythe,
I had forgotten that Trini did that one, edgar, and as far as Izzie's song is concerned, she said that it was in a minor key. Oops!

From Andrea Corr (whose birthday is today) to edgar. You Are amazing!

I don't know from minor keys, letty. Here's another coincidence: I was writing a lyric I called Amazing last Friday. But, when I did a search of lyrics using that word, I dropped the project.

@edgarblythe,
You're funny today, edgar. That makes us all feel better, methinks.

Speaking of the "grace" phrase, I ran across this one while searching for Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin. From mother to daughter, folks.

@Letty,
Good morning Miss Letty, edgar, MizIzz, and the rest of your audience. I found a lovely wake up song in my inbox this morning that started my Sunday off perfectly. I thought you might enjoy it too.

Chopin Cello Sonata Op.65-1, Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax

JPB, I love a sonata, especially where Chopin is concerned and the cello is wonderful. A sonata is a sound thing while a serenade is a song of love.

edgar, Yes, love should be a gentle thing. Thanks, Texas. I love the mix we have here on our cyber radio.

Speaking of Glen Miller, Bud told me that a friend of his from WWII claimed that Glen was killed in a bar room by a jealous lover. Yikes! We'll never solve that mystery, because his body was never found.

A Rhomberg serenade, y'all.

Let's see if I can remember this one:

boy, the songs Glen Miller played; songs that made the Hit Parade; guys like us we had it made, those were the days.

Guess who? Our trivia for today. Razz

@JPB,
ah, I never hear that song that I don't think of sweet Karen Carpenter. What a shame that just because she overheard someone say : "...Ken's pudgy sister..." led her to anorexia nervosa.(anorexia simply means loss of appetite) Didn't know that Paul Williams wrote those lyrics, either.

Thanks, JPB. I don't know how the postal service is in Chicago, but I still haven't received my Mother's Day card from my kids, and my flood insurance people claim they haven't received my check. We need the rain here, however.

Following through, y'all, with this one by Nancy Wilson.

@Izzie,
Well, Izzie, let's try this one replete with partial lyrics. Hey, it's Sunday, folks. Wonderful Ode to Joy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpcUxwpOQ_A

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee,
Op’ning to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;

Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heav’n reflect Thy rays,

Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee.

Don't know if Bach would appreciate the humor, but we do, right?

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Doris is good doing that one. I think of Rock Hudson occasionally, and how she stood behind him until the end. Very sad, but thanks, Texas.

Love your er and ah over Ode to Joy, and Beethoven is rolling over right now cause I credited the other B with his composition.

Okay, folks, this is how it should be done, and note the meter. It's different.

Hey, Izzie. We're awaiting your confirmation.

@Letty,
Hey hey............ just back from parents house - been doing Birthday cake!

oh no Letty - not Ode To Joy - but that did make me laugh - muppets - love 'em! Very Happy

ok.... I've whistled it and laaaaaa'd it and no-one knows it - but I know everyone does know it......

it's haunting, kinda lullabyish - honestly, it's so frustrating because I've heard the song sooooooo many times and I can't get the words....

it's something like "if i had a wish/something.... llalalllllla i would give it to you... if i..... lalallaala"

I'm going to have to write the music down, tho I can only get the first few bars and I'm not sure if I've added some notes it... and then hope that someone can play it and tell me the song. How weird - you know when you know something - but you just can't get it out of your head and I don't even know why I'm thinking of this tune. FRUST.RAAAAAAT.....ING!

(Bazza, if you're awake, give me a dog and bone - don't wanna ring in case you're sleeping)

k - gonna write the music down and scan it in! How ridiculous is this a?

@Izzie,
ok, hoping you can see this.... only had a purple felt tip! HA! Typical. Might not make any sense at all - but I can hear the words and hear the music - but I can't piece it together... doh!

I read that this version of Riders in the Sky angered Vaughn Monroe. Anyway, I heard it for the first time yesterday, on a Spike Jones album that my brother gave me.

@edgarblythe,
I loved Spike Jones on that one. Vaughn Monroe ought to have known that a parody only makes the original get more attention. Thanks, edgar. I wish that I could help our Izzie but I printed out her manuscript and will try later. Ode to Joy makes one feel joyful, methinks.

I stole this one from nimh, and this kid is great.
