Lots of great songs this afternoon, y'all.

dys, that version of Mr. Tambourine Man featuring The Byrds and Bob is my very favorite. Thanks, cowboy. Never heard him do Forever Young, however.

Mr Wizard, I had to check out Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Had no idea they did that one. Michele Legrand is fabulous, and when Barry the Brit did a remake of The Supremes, I recall Diana Ross doing Lady Sings the Blues and part of the soundtrack was done by Legrand. What a talent.

Hey, Brit. Sorry to admit that I don't know Walker or Mayfield, but that was great soul music. Yep, when one does smooth jazz and planes, it tends to be heavenly. Thanks, London.

Today is Janet Jackson's birthday so let's hear one by her, y'all.

That one was rather sensual, but no apologies

Good afternoon. More Bond theme sounds.
Yours truly, Johnny Dollar.

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar. I had to search out, "Yours truly, Johnny Dollar". Didn't help, however. Razz The archives said something about a detective series.

I guess I saw that movie, buddy, but not certain. Frankly, I don't care for Tom Jones' voice on that one.

Here's the one that Johnny Cash submitted. Tell me what you think, Texas. Which do you prefer?

@Letty,
I bought some of his DVD reissued LP's from the 50's (in mono) like "I Love Paris," large orchestral renditions with delightfully quirky jazz overtones.

The original movie used the multiple screen image motif and a lot of film critics consider it at least three-and-a-half star movie. The heist is almost totally different, of course.

Another favorite Legrand score, this time he can take all the credit:

@Letty,
Hi DJ Letty, have listened to both versions of Thunderball and must honestly say thumps down to both of them! Johnny Cash is undoubtedly the better version but I'm afraid not my cup of tea. Enjoy your weekend. The not so musical Cosmic Eagle. Smile

Good evening, Miss Letty and listeners.

I was never much of a James Bond fan (movies or music) but they did put a number of artists on the top of the charts.

Switching gears completely... I was just listening to an old Glen Miller piece and I thought I'd stop by and share it (there's a full play list if you're interested)

Dutchy, appreciate the acknowledgement and the decision on the two themes. Frankly, I didn't think either was very moving.

Loved Willow Weep for Me, Brit, but never heard that group.

Mr. Wizard. I didn't see that movie, but I know the theme. Odd, no?

JPB, Any serenade suits me, and of course Barry doesn't know it. He's only seventeen. Razz

Been a trying and long day for your producer/dj so I'm going to close with a lovely song that I discovered after trying to access Barry's song on Rock's music forum(incidentally, it seems that CD is in contention). These things always happen to me. I guess it is the Jung thing.

Well, Johnny Cash makes Thunderball sound like Ghost Riders in the Sky. and it's great. But, I love Tom Jones also. I listened to Janet Jackson - Okay, I guess.

I'm listening to Dark Night of the Soul just now. I am not familiar with the artist.

Yours Truly Johnny Dollar was a fifteen minute radio serial, on five days a week. He was an insurance investigator. He would read off his itemized expenses throughout, and we would hear how that related to the case. He always would sign off, "Yours truly . . . " It was one of the last Golden Age shows.

@edgarblythe,
Good Morning, WA2K radio audience and edgar.

Thanks, Texas for the evaluation of the two themes. I have always been interested in how others respond to different types of music. When I taught, I would often take an entire class period playing different types of music and allowing students to do what is known as "free writing" as a reflection of what they heard. The results would be graded holistically so not one would be pressured and could feel free to be expressive.

Here's a lovely matin by Enya. It is her birthday today. Reflect on it, folks.

Good afternoon, Izzie. Boy do I ever know that feeling. This probably is not the right song, but we'll give it a try, hun.

Usually, Mr. Wizard or some other person in our forum can help. Fortunately, I know how to convey the melody via notes in the key of C.

Memory of Trees is a nice one and Peter Paul and Mary had the best version of If I Had a Hammer, although Trini Lopez comes in a close second.
