Good morning WA2K radio audience.

Wow! Brit, that song by Sinead was cynical. Guess mothers can be bit that way sometimes. Thanks, anyway, Wooosh man.

Well, y'all, today is Donovan's birthday and I just found out that he had polio when he was young. Have been looking for the Four Freshmen's "It Happened Once Before" without much luck; however, I did find Little Girl Blue.

First Donovan.

Now, The Freshmen

er, edgar, I do believe that Donovan has been influenced by Bob Dylan.

quote: er, edgar, I do believe that Donovan has been influenced by Bob Dylan.

On one of his first albums he addresses the "imitating Dylan" question by sidestepping it a bit. There can be no question he started out like that. With Sunshine Superman, he came into his own and no longer needed to follow anyone.

I have listened to the Freshmen Little Girl Blue song fairly often; not so much since the old people's radio show was cancelled.

Thanks, Dutchy, for that Mother's day song. "Something is Wrong now", right? Razz Didn't quite understand that Mommy song, downunderman, but I am quite certain that the tattooed lady meant it as a tribute. Glad you wined and dined Mrs. Dutchy. She deserves it. I hope to be able to go out to dinner this evening.

Hopefully, my kids will call me today from the hospital

Thanks, edgar, for the Dylan and Donovan song. Now I understand! Incidentally, our radio is designed for the young and the old, and for those in between as well.

Today is Paul (Bono)Hewson's birthday; he is the lead singer for U2. So, y'all, let's listen to this one.

@edgarblythe,
i believe that's from "Don't Look Back" a doc by Pennebaker. My dad took me to see it in Montreal @ Expo 67...I thought Dylan was a jerk and felt sorry for Donovan...I still listen to his early work

I have often wondered about why some folks like some music and others don't. There is room here for discussion on music theory, but no one can teach another how to appreciate it. I am simply going by birthday people today.

Donovan and Dylan reminded me of each other, panz. Whether good or bad doesn't really matter, right?

Another birthday boy. He's only 110 years old today. Razz

And here's Michael Buble doing the same song.

@Letty,
apparently my post was not germane to the thread?...or am I missing something letty? In any case it was just my reaction to Dylan's bullying behaviour displayed in the documentary I saw when I was just a kid...that's all

@panzade,
Hey, honey. anything you observe is welcome here. For example, listen to the songs that I just played by two different artists and tell me which you like, ok?

Funnnneeee, Rocky. Thanks for the "mum's day wish. I just got an email from my daughter saying they she and my son will call from the hospital.

Sid Vicious was too self destructive to suit me, incidentally.

Oh my gawd, ehbeth, The Mills Brothers were my mom's favorite group. Thanks for the Cielito Lindo song.

@panzade,
Re: Don't Look Back and Dylan
Even Dylan said he regretted releasing that movie, because he knows it is not flattering to him. Still, it's a slice of the times in which it was shot.

Well, I got some Bob Wills here. I really like Joe Turner's version best, but this one's nice and easy.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, edgar. I didn't much care for that one by Bob Wills; I think it has something to do with the meter, Texas.

That Colorado Kool aide was hilarious, however. Loved it and it made me think of Johnny Cash's, Boy Name Sue. (cut off a piece of my ear).

Thanks for choosing the one that you liked best concerning "...The Way you Looked Tonight..." I think it has to do with the times. That was my dad's favorite song, incidentally.

Two songs, y'all; one in memory of my mother, and the other a tribute to Max Steiner whose birthday is also today.

First for my mom.

Now a tribute to Max.

Hoorah! Miss/Ms. Letty gets to go out to eat tonight.
